Birth Control and Miscarriages

This makes alot of sense, but I heard it wasn't true that if you take Birth Control you can be 100% positive that you will have a miscarriage.

So woulden't birth control cause you to loose your baby?

Condoms don't cause you to have a miscarriage.

BC pills create an environment where your body already thinks it's pregnant, it doesn't miscarry a fertilized egg.

Diaphrams and cervical caps don't cause miscarriages.

Nor does spermicidal foam or Norplant.

If you are calling an unfertilized egg being expelled from a woman body a miscarriage, you're mixed up. That happens just about every month for the average woman....with or without sex.

How did you come by this opinion? Were you thinking about IUD's?

Please check out the recommended links on your original post.

Babies get conceived in times of starvation, in times of plague, during national disasters, when the mother is only twelve.... Sex is pleasant and sex is the way that the human race goes on despite unfavorable circumstances.

As many as one third of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion. Most seriously flawed children are not born. This means that at least two thirds of all pregnancies result in babies.

Abortion is not a marvelously simple, do-it-yourself project. If you are pregnant--and this is by no means certain--and your choice is abortion, you're going to have to confide in your parents.

Anyone who helped you get an abortion would be breaking the law.

I'm sure your friends are all good people, but they don't have medical degrees. Their uninformed, inaccurate advice can be harmful. I'm old enough to remember desperate, unmarried mothers-to-be who tried to dislodge the fetus from the womb with dirty wire coat hangers--and who bled to death.

Lean on your cousin or your boyfriend or someone who can get you to the drugstore to buy a Pregnancy Testing Kit.

Good luck.

Where did all of these deductions come from? First of all I see no mention of the poster's age. Next, if the poster is of majority, then it is not a crime for her to obtain an abortion and to do so , without consulting her parents.

How do you know, Noddy24, that none of her friends have medical degrees?

I can remember, when abortion WAS a crime and I also remember, a teen aged girl, who drank a can of
DRAINO, with the hope that the fetus would be killed. I knew of another young girl, in the days when abortion was a crime, who didn't use a coat hanger to drag the fetus from her body.
Instead, she used an electric egg beater.

Do you wish to hear more?

Ummmm.... okay wait.

Say your pregnant- and then you know your pregnant so you take birth control to kill the fetus.

Now, would birth control kill it or not?

Edited to clarify: no it will not kill the fetus.

Are you talking about the morning after pill?

You guess? Are you saying you're 14 and pregnant?

If this is the case, you need to talk to your parents and/or to a highschool counselor. Chat rooms are not the way to go.

No, so far she only suspects that she's pregnant. It's a long story...

Exitmusic7,

You are obviousley way stressed out over this situation. It's good that you are asking questions and seeking advice...but shouldn't you determine the facts first? Take the pregnancy test and put your mind to ease. This way if it's positive you can start looking into how to handle an unwanted pregnancy. If it's negative you can rest easy and you'll probably start your period. Taking a pregnancy test is very simple. There are types that you can just take into the bathroom and hold in you urine stream and in a few minutes you'll have your answer. But as we've said before, the first morning urine is the most accurate. Some tests even come with a second one so you can double check the next morning.

My advice: take up sewing and leave the sex to married ladies.

exitmusic, what is the point of asking us all these questions when a simple $7 test will clear everything up?

You are probably not pregnant. The pill will not kill a fetus.

You are late because you are stressed out. Do you have any idea how long it takes couples to get pregnant when they want to get pregnant? Sometimes a year or more. It's not as easy as it is made out to be, and considering you didn't have intercourse, your chances are very very low.

TAKE THE TEST and then come back here. We will be more than happy to help you make some decisions should they need to be made, and answer any questions regarding your future sexual relationships.

hmmm, I think that is bit extreme. While it's true you need intercourse, you can definitely, positively, no doubt about it, get pregnant the first time you have sex. First time virgins get pregnant and females between 14-25 get pregnant the fastest. Yes, sperm must enter the vagina, but getting pregnant is fairly easy for most young women.

I think our young friend here needs to call a local Planned Parenthood and make an appointment for the teen sex talk.

I didn't mean that she couldn't get pregnant the first time, but wanted to let her know that pregnancy doesn't happen by magic.

Maybe I wasn't clear.

GW is right...you can get pregnant on your first time.

(Ack...how am I going to survive not posting?)

But she doesn't need to start making plans for an abortion before she finds out whether or not she's pregnant.

You ceratinly can.

And even when I was about 25 years old(practically an adult) and the condom split I still poohed myself thinking I was pregnant!!(I got the morning after pill, then soon after went on the pill. I have since had sex 8 times in 5 years)

Take a test or get the morning after pill.

After crapping myself as much as I did that once, Ive many a layer of contraception(not having sex is one of them, does the trick but renders life a tad dull)

Cant believe I just said all that personal stuff, forums are great tho. They are a starting pint for help.

Basically do a test then take the appropriate action.
If your not pregnant please learn from it.

You can go on the pill for reasons other than contraception.I certainly didnt mention contraception when I talked about taking the pill with my mum. I wanted to regulate periods. It also controls period pains/PMS/PMT.

I REALLY think you are getting excellent advice here. People can tell you that you are too young for sex but the truth is, you're going to do what you want to do. My opinion also is that 14 is too young for sex, don't give in to peer pressure. Back at your age I'm sure girls bragged about losing their virginity but actually didn't. Sex should be shared between two people who are truely in love with each other and want to share in an intimate relationship. I just gave my 14 year old daughter advice yesterday. She is entering highschool! I told her"just know that boys talk, so make sure the first boy you kiss is someone you really want to, because most likely all his friends will know" Most importantly"make wise choices" At 40 I still tell myself that.
If you are considering becoming sexually active the advice of calling planned parenthood is excellent. It never hurts to just talk to someone with professional knowledge. I'm proud of you for coming here seeking advice. At your age I was uninformed which was very dangerous, I consider myself lucky!

Good Luck with any decisions you make, and please just take the test!
