Wow - this stuff is great. You guys certainly are a talented bunch!
Taking Care of Business
You get up one fine morning
To feed the your little rodents
But notice some of them are missing
You know you have to find them
'fore your honey gets to town
of her lips you're always reminiscing.
But you know you can't do it
Your heart is just not in it
You'd rather poke your eye out with a stick
So you fire up your Chevy
And head on down the highway
To pick up your favourite chick
(Refrain)
But she ...
has met someone else, yes she has
has gotten tired of waiting, yes, yes she has
You've been waiting there all day but she's not there
She has met someone else with lots more hair
Too bad!
And then Francis comes along
With lovely CJ on his arm
And you're just green with jealousy
So you toss your pitchfork at 'im
But he moves aside in time
And she just smiles at your misery
So you look around the town
For a different-coloured gown
And spot a hussy by the name of Chai
You look her in the eye
And wink at her and smile
But she spits on you and says "Bye Bye"
(Refrain)
So you
start drinking beer at the bar, yes you do
You wind up drinking Scotch after that, oh yeah
You're feeling sorry for yourself, pity party
Then you suddenly see our lovely Marty
Life's good!
But behind her is a guy, and he's cool...
He said baby, are you Mame?
Are you new in this town?
Since you walked in things don't look the same
How about sticking around?
The place was dark and Bear played loud
His voice sounded kind of dry
He said: who's that guy with the funny pitchfork?
She said: He's just a friend from work.
They talked a little, drank a lot
As the evening went by
The place got crowded and the air too hot
He said: who's that guy who's following us?
She said: I think he's Lord Ellpus.
He was nice and gentle, still rough enough
To keep Smorgs satisfied
She said: He is not here, he left the place
I feel like I'm gonna die
He took her home in the early mornin'
She said: please do come inside
He said: who's that guy in the dressing gown?
She said: Oh, That's George O'Brien
He said who's that guy in the dressing gown
She said baby don't you mind
He's just a friend, just a friend,
He's just a friend of mine
(I apologize in advance to Calamity Jane. I hope everyone realizes that these lyrics are intended to be a joke.)
"Careless Whisper"
I feel so unsure
As I take Jane's hand
And lead her to the dance floor
As the music dies
Something in her eyes
Calls to mind Gustav's swamp
And all its swarming flies
I'm never gonna dance again
Gustav's polka gots more rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
They know I'm not a fool
Should have known better than to trust that Gus
The wasted dream that I've been left with
Oh I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced the polka with Jane
A SONG FOR YOU
I've been so many places in my life and time
I've sung a lot of songs I've made some bad rhyme
I've acted out my love in stages
With ten thousand people watching
But we're alone now, Bella, and I'm singing this song for you
I know your image of me is what I hope to be
I've treated you unkindly but darlin' can't you see
There's no one more important to me
Darlin' can't you please see through me
Cause we're alone now, Diane, and I'm singing this song for you
You taught me precious secrets of the truth witholding nothing
You came out in front and I was hiding
But now I'm so much better and if my words don't come together
Listen to the melody, Eva, cause my love is in there hiding
I love you in a place where there's no space or time
I love you, Osso, for in my life you are a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone, Straycat, and I was singing this song for you
You taught me precious secrets of the truth witholding nothing
You came out in front, Noddy, and I was hiding
But now I'm so much better and if my words don't come together
Listen to the melody, Dag, cause my love is in there hiding
I love you, Deb, in a place where there's no space or time
I love you, msolga, for in my life you are a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone, Lola, and I was singing this song for you
We were alone, Tarah, and I was singing this song for you
You all are so evil to me
You all are so evil to me
Now I see
Now I see
Everything I must avoid
Everything I'm schizoid
You all are so evil to me
Francis, it looks like you should be singing, "To All the A2K Girls I've Loved Before".
But I've a problem with the title : it should be "To all the A2K girls I love"...
I'll try that anyway, Jespah.
I've been looking for a song to add more names (including yours).
May I speak for all of us edgar?
Don't go changing, to try and please us
You never let us
down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And we don't see you anymore
We wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
We took the good times, We'll take the bad times
Well take you just the way you are
Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have our unspoken passion
Although we might not seem to care
We don't want clever conversation
We never want to work that hard
We just want someone that we can talk to
We want you just the way you are.
We need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that we knew
What will it take till you believe in us
The way that we believe in you.
We said we love you and that's forever
And this we promise from the heart
We could not love you any better
We love you just the way you are.
A fitting cap to the thread, I would say. Thanks, panzade.
Right, who bumped the thread?
It wuz eye. I thought some newer members might appreciate it.
Hey everybody, look what I found. I remember trying to come up with lyrics but maybe only posted one mangled song. This thread made me laugh out loud, and I found it while trying to access old Abuzz members. Couldn't find Abuzz, but Edgar's thread popped up. Brings back fond memories. Especially the part where a member of SB found it and posted over there to show what a flaming jerk I am. I was unaware my title was in jeopardy, but thanks again to Squirrel for burnishing my jerk rep. I think everyone of the a2k bunch loved it, and thanks again to Edgar for offering the challenge. gb
I'm very proud of the efforts put forth here. It was beautifully funny,
@edgarblythe,
Edgar, your idea was so much fun it convinced me that people still have a sense of humor.
