Of course, back then the age of consent was lower, wasn't it?

Actually, I can remember only one time in my life that I was persecuted and not only did it not amount to much, it ended up being a revelation. Three of the gym team ( Laughing ) made some remarks towards me and my best gay friend at an student outing at a park that were meant to be harrasing. About two weeks later, the best looking of the three followed me under the football field bleachers late in the day an in a dark corner gave me a BJ. Oh, well.

Your sentence regarding not wanting anyone to be gay is poorly phrased so there is no telegraphing of my statements as none of them even insinuate that I would advocate recruiting. As in the incident above, those who have the tendencies recruit themselves. You've clarified that you are accepting yourself as homosexual despite the persecution which seems to be paralleled in "Brokeback Mountain." It is true that the time frame and the demography have an effect.

Gosh, how big is God's dick? It's lucky he didn't send Mary to the hospital.

We choose our behavior, not our orientation. Do you not believe that?

Hi Lash,

Yes, I do believe the Bible is divinely inspired. What has that to do with my inability to know one's future? The Bible doesn't tell me your future, or anyone else's.

If by 'orientation' you mean what we accept as right or wrong, yes we all choose that as well.

If not, perhaps you should precisely define what you think 'orientation' is.

Apparently you do not think it is behavior.

Brokeback Mountain Makes Way For Gay Characters

Indo-Asian News Service

London, August 4, 2006

The huge success of Brokeback Mountain has opened doors for other gay characters in movies.

According to contactmusic.com, a new movie The Night Listener starring Robin Williams as a gay writer and two other films Quinceanera and Shock To The System will be released soon.

Actor Chad Allen, who stars as a gay detective in Shock To The System, said: "There was a huge fear or belief that you couldn't tell a story with a gay hero and have it make money. A well-made movie with a good story trumps everything. It's not just a victory for gay rights; it's a victory for humanity." - Hindustan Times article (!)

"The Night Listener" is from the novel by Amistad Maupin, the out gay author of "Tales of the City" which was made into two successful mini-series. It's an art film which is getting mixed reviews -- the novel is methodical and profound. Whether that translates to the screen is another story -- one critic lauded the performances but stated that the verbosity of the script became tedious. This trend will hopefully supplant the stereotypical gay friend of the girl having love problems in weak romantic comedies and the malevolent gay in the crime movies (there were even two lovers in James Bond "Diamonds Are Forever" somewhat played up as comedy relief.

Sorry posting movie stuff on this thread but it is related to RR's contention of rampant persecution -- where he lives maybe.

Sexual orientation is the focus of a person's amorous or erotic desires, fantasies, and feelings, the gender(s) one is primarily "oriented" towards. The alternative terms sexual preference and sexual inclination have similar meanings. Clinicians and those who believe sexuality is more predetermined tend to use the former term, those believing sexuality is more fluid and reflects preference and choice, the latter terms.

Are you attracted to women, or do you make a choice every day to deny your attraction to men?

An outing, eh? Laughing (Sorry, I couldn't resist).

Strangely enough the US Military wanted to develop a bomb that could turn straight men gay, didn't they? Goodness knows how that's supposed to be a weapon. I mean, I remember there being a certain group of warriors in Greece or around that area that were rampantly gay and they were no less vicious than straight warriors.

And LW... Robin Williams is playing another gay character? Well, I can't complain. He's a Legend of Zelda fan.

This is incorrect.

From the moment of conception, the unborn is male or female depending on whether they have an XY combination of chromsomes , or not.

This is not something that happens during the 9 months gestation. It is a done deal from fertilization.

Actors fake being gay. Another pedestrian statement by RexRed. Are you sure you're not twelve? Actors fake being anything other than themselves. Get real.

I wonder about Jake -- the publicity agent and the media are playing up his dating every young female star in Hollywood. Hmmm... Maybe wishful thinking.

I may disagree with real life on many things, but he's absolutely rebutted more flaky ideas presented by RexRed. Where in The Economist link does it support your absolutely silly statements?

Are you bonkers from Yonkers?

The "Night Listener" is definitely one of the best movies in the last ten years. It sensitively depicts the pain and suffering of a human being who has lost his partner. It is easy for homophobes to make fun but they do not know what agony is until they have suffered the pain of being abandoned by the man they truly loved!!!!

Leno and Roper gave "The Night Listener" two thumbs up without mentioning it is from a novel by the out gay author who wrote "Tales of the City," Armistad Maupin, an author a straight colleague turned me onto. Jay Leno was the guest critic this Sunday for Robert Ebert who is still recovering from his cancer operation. For those that "Brokeback Mountain" didn't explore the territory they believe is relevant, although I fail to understand that, movies like "The Night Listener" are important. Although I feel it will do just okay at the box office (it is a low budget independent as well), it's subject has little to do with the main character being gay until one scene late in the movie. Maupin, indeed, creates some really enthralling, in depth, and often eccentric characters in his books. How about the transexual, portrayed by Olympia Dukakis, in "Tales of the City?" Then, a man suspected of being Jim Jones is introduced. Great imagination, that Armistad.

Comment:
Read the article, I did, I posted where it backed up what I said and then you in return posted this simple, insult to my intelligence, insult to my being genuine.

How about trying to make a relative point rather than trying to score points on how well you can throw the personal slurs?

Now that I have posted the article I based my statement on I don't see you or anyone else contesting the actual point I made. No, instead you just resort to attacking my character.

And no, I am not from Yonkers.
