Regarding "ad hominean," see http://www.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookup.pl?stem=ad&ending=hominean

As you may know, Wikipedia is a volunteer, nonprofessional, organization.

As you ought to know, but may be willing not to admit, i provided three sources, and not simply Wikipedia.

If you want more sources, i'll be happy to provide them.

That was not the term you previously used.

Are you now trying to claim that you did?

We can easily quote you to show that you are lying if you do attempt to make that claim.

You really ought to stop digging, Advocate.

First, you say

Quote:
As I used the term, "ad hominian" is spelled correctly.

Which is untrue. When this is pointed out to you, you say

Quote:
Regarding "ad hominean," see http://www.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookup.pl?stem=ad&ending=hominean

As you may know, Wikipedia is a volunteer, nonprofessional, organization.

And you made things oh, so much more hilarious.

First of all, because the page you linked to doesn't say anything at all about 'ad hominean' but instead lists off words with the 'ad' prefix.

Second, and funnier, you spelled it differently - again - after claiming it was spelled correctly in the first place.

Please, for your own sake, just admit you were wrong!

It is essentially a foreign word. Thus, a phonetic spelling is correct. BTW, type in "hominian" in a post and then click on SpellCheck. You will see that it is correct.

But your contention will then be that spellcheck is incorrect.

My contention is, and remains, that i did not employ argumentum ad hominem in responding to Ican't and his request that i answer his question. You have failed to make your case, no matter how many stupid games you play with the spelling of words.

Truly embarassing.

You should be f*cking ashamed of yourself, for your inability to admit that you are wrong.

The phonetic spelling of 'Hominem' is nowhere close to anything you have posted.

You are a bit of a moron. A phonetic spelling of "ad hominean" is "ad hominian," not "ad hominen."

Set, I didn't play any "stupid" games. You incorrectly used "sic," but won't admit it.

You're a fool.

The correct word usage in the first sentence is to use the word 'hominem.' Hominian means something else completely.

Let's look it up -

"hominian - characterizing the family Hominidae, which includes Homo sapiens sapiens as well as extinct species of manlike creatures."

This has nothing to do with an 'ad hominem' attack, which is what you were falsely accusing Set of engaging in.

There is no such thing as 'ad hominian.' Even if there was, you still used it incorrectly. And then tried to use the 'phonetic spelling' dodge. Which is bullsh*t.

Honestly, stop digging, man

By the way, i used argumentum ad hominem--at no time did i use "hominen." I'm starting to lose track, is that his third different spelling, or is it the fourth?

Your term is noun. What is the verb?

Okay, this is my new sig line! It's just so perfect!! All in one line! I mean, look at it:

He starts out with a personal insult (an ad hominem, yes!!!), attacking Cycloptichorn instead of the point he was making:

Advocate wrote:

Then comes the dodge for the bit where he got called out for having changed the misspelled term

Advocate wrote:
A phonetic spelling of

then the misspelling he used later

Advocate wrote:
"ad hominean"

and then the misspelling he used first

Advocate wrote:
is "ad hominian,"

and then, he concludes the whole thing by misspelling it yet again:

Advocate wrote:
not "ad hominen."

I'd claim that Godwin's Law was invoked somewhere after page 465, but i rather suspect it kicked in long ago in this thread.

I think for it to qualify as satire, one actually has to be aware of what one is doing.
