Has Anyone Besides Me Noticed

That after 9/11 for a short time there were a couple of rumours and scares of terrorist activities on US soil and then several years of quiet and now suddenly 4 months before elections ther's a new f*cking plot being uncovered and foiled every day now it seems? Are we about to be told "Vote for us or you won't be safe" again?

These are the test runs. If they have the desired effect, nearer the election, they will uncover a humongous plot that could well have killed thirty percent of the population.

I notice that in at least two instances the government has arrested "terrorists" for simply talking about it! They have not made any plans to purchase explosives, had no connection with other terrorists and had no way to finance their goals! But we have "foiled" these "terrorists"!

I understand that many will never be happy with America's war on terror, but stopping terrorists is a good thing. Sometimes it is even newsworthy.

I would much rather hear how they have been foiled than to hear that they have been able to complete their missions, wouldn't you?

Makes you wonder when some here would conclude a terrorist plot to be "imminent." Must the fuse on the bomb be lighted before its a threat?

Yep.

Same stuff happened here just as a bill removing certain civil liberties was being hotly debated in parliament.

Boom....a bunch of alleged terrorists get arrested.

Bill passed without a whimper.

It's awful.

I don't WANT to be so suspicious...and what if it's all true?

But how ******* convenient and effective.

To clarify...the people arrested are being tried normally in open court, so I believe there was good evidence against them...it is the TIMING of the arrests that us highly suspicious....

Yes, it's pretty clear that no one in the Bush administration ever described the threat from Iraq as imminent. Who said this?
