Here's another stray thought on firearms for the beneit of libs and anti-gunners and what not.
The term "assault rifle" or "assault weapon" is generally meant to be anything which appars frightening to a demokkkrat these days, usually something like this:
which might be fine for dealing with two or three viet cong if you could find them. There are any number of reasons in real life not to be walking around in the woods with a 223 caliber rifle, for instance:
That guy would eat the M16 along with its owner, along with any demokkkrats who might be standing around acting scared in the bargain. My brother in fact tells me that the very worst he ever saw anybody get messed up in Nam was a guy who had an M16 in his hand when he encountered a wild boar.
Now, if you're SERIOUS about wanting to be able to strike real fear into whatever else might be in the woods, this would be a far better choice:
That is basically America's most lethal gun, your basic Marlin lever action rifle chambered for 45/70 ammunition. It'll put the bear, or anything else which walks the Earth down pretty much where he stands, and it's accurate enough to kill mice at 100 meters if you ever need it to do that. Most demokkkrats probably wouldn't even recognize it as a firearm.
The 45/70 is an ancient cartridge, one of three or four holdovers from the age of black powder cartridges which prevailed for a few decades between the civil war era and the age of modern smokeless powder. Cartridges loaded for the Marlin rifles use smokeless powder.
