oops! Hello, Mathos, my post was in response to Francis'.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, Mathos, on the potential of only those who feel 'part of the gang' or in the clique feeling as if they would be welcomed. But, as we discovered in Chicago, folks who were historically at odds on these boards got along quite well and gained an admiration for each other in having spent time together.

I can appreciate every word you say JP, it certainly has attractions to some members or this thread would not be operational, but I do think Spendi raised some decent points and mine had benefits too.

It wouldn't be open for discussion if we all felt the same way, would it?

Hello, Walter. Have we met? I'm sure we have!

To which Walt replied-

Yes, certainly we've met. More than once,

Is this deep irony or are these meetings so intimate as that suggests.

I see Spendius is as annoying as ever. Get a life of your own manÂ… and stop getting your jollies off of aggravating people who have one. To a man (woman), the folks who met in Chicago had a great time and I neither recall anyone being outcasted nor anyone even suggesting a negative to the experience. If you think Walter and JB, or anyone else for that matter, did anything but grow friendships there than you're even more off-balance than your posts suggest. Joe had it right when he described you as an annoying buzzing sound. Probably best to stick with that.

Listen Bill-

I have a life. We all have. It's unavoidable. Can't you find anything less stupid and trite than to say "get a life" to people as an all purpose, catch all snort? It's a bit ladylike.

I'm not annoying. It's the new policy that's coming in that's annoying you.

All I'm doing is pointing it out to people. Do you seriously think this pollution can go on being spewed out for ever and ever in the service of whims and to relieve boredom.

Isn't it obvious that to get up a go from where you are is objective proof that you are bored with where you are. Why should those who are not bored with where they are (the majority) have to put up with (fund) all the trouble, stink and noise of those who are so bored with their surroundings that they continually have to search for opportunities to leave them.

What does it say to their "friends" when they leave them and pay through the nose to fly thousands of miles to meet complete strangers.

What's the % of A2Kers interested in such things. Statistically insignificant is the answer.

It's the facts that annoy not the messenger.

You have a "shoot the messenger" policy on your head.

PS- I have never told anybody to "get a life" ever. Nor would I ever. It's just ignorant and I might consider travel if I was stuck with that sort of thing which I'm not.

Having wiped the floor with all the egg head Yanks on the ID thread, Spendi is brimming with confidence.

Better be careful Bill he might start bashing you about on here.

 Good lad Spendi!

Hey Mathos- that's an invitation.

There are some nice quiet little guest houses up in your Lake District.

Ideal for meetings.

Well, I found your response to my post annoying. So much that I was afraid to say anything further in case you decided to misconstrue it again.
Isn't ones being "annoying" a matter of opinion?

PS...Can't we all just get along?

What part(s) of Europe are you visiting, Martybarker?

Sorry JPB I missed this post a while back. I'll post something in Travel so I don't have to endure more stupid commentary from you-know-who

Hmm, I am still trying to understand all of Spendius' post. But my English is obviously not good enough. What a pity.

But he might have been talking about people like me. Yes, I do like to travel, pay through the nose, fly thousands of miles, meet people and my friends don't feel left by me.

But that's not my main reason for posting. I have a great time meeting A2Kers and will watch this thread for any possibilities in Europe. Or in Florida - most likely we will be there in March 2007.

That must be because-

1- They are glad to see the back of you for a bit.
or
2- They are too polite to tell you.
or
3- They don't give a sod either way.

If I was in love and my adored one announced that she was leaving me to go spend 10 days with a bunch of strangers talking about how hot it is and how far they have come I would go throw myself into the nearest deep river.

I would, of course, swim to the bank and begin life anew having satisfied myself with such a stylish theatrical gesture.
