Oh Jeez...don't give him a halo, hamburger. He's hard enough to live with as it is! Laughing

Seriously, Craven...thanks so much for always looking for ways to make things better for us. I'm already proud of this site, but am looking forward to seeing what you can come up with.

This may be a dumb question, but is there any chance we might be able to upload photos directly to the new A2K instead of posting them elsewhere first? Or is that asking too much?

When will we be able to buy stock in A2K? I don't want to miss out like I did with Google! Laughing

Thank you, Craven. I'm not concerned about the polls. I was thinking of preserving posts from members no longer here.

I bow to your expertise.

(Hey, what were you smokin' when Hamburger took that pic?)

What is a "google"?

A one followed by a thousand zeroes, if I remember my math correctly.

I knew that.

But I seem to recall there was once a popular web portal that went by that name... that is before A2K took over.

I think you are confusing Google (tm) with the A2K "Gaggle." We also tend to Giggle, Oogle and Chuggle, but Googling is not allowed at the moment.

Maybe that can be part of the Beta, though. Laughing

I believe the number is "googol", and "Google" reportedly took their name from that (and modified the spelling a bit).

A brand-new Able2Know is coming soon!

A2K BETA will be coming sometime this summer. "BETA" means it won't be absolutely perfect upon launch, but will be improved from there (and will likely be pretty darn cool from the get-go).

Looking forward to the new incarnation of this site.

It's good to read that innovation is happening in the background.

Especially:

To me, the current A2K has completely lost it's luster from a technical standpoint.

But I'm back with a vengance, and the innovation coming is on a level A2K hasn't yet seen. Traffic will come if I keep innovating. And the innovation that is coming is on a different level.

Right now A2K is a collection of free software that I customized. When I started A2K I had only used a computer for about a year and barely knew how to make a site.

Now, I have learned much more. I am the director of web development for a multi-million dollar company and I'm remaking it all from scratch.

The next year is going to be a very different. I actually advise people who ask me about the site not to visit it in its current incarnation because what is coming is going to put this collection of scripts to shame (note: not initially, I'm launching pretty raw cause this collection of scripts is unstable).

for an old guy who started with 'punched' cards , tabulators , collators and duplicators , graduated to an 'IBM 1401' with 16 k of storage and two tape drives - have you ever done a two-tape sort of about 100,000 insurance records over the weekend and have the tape break when the job is 90% complete ? - this website has been more than adequate !!!
but i'm not adverse to learn new things - this old dog will have to teach himself new some tricks .

One of the most promising innovations will be the "Tin Foil Hat" screen that will weed out conspiracy theorists and religious fanatics. Should make A2K more debate-friendly
