Excellent post, Wilso.

I getta kick outta the ID-iots' harping on "chance", which nobody legitimately involved with the sciences pays much attention to at all - dunno what the ID-iots' problem there is; mebbe chaos, with its complex dynamics, is just to much for them to comprehend.

well, they always, to a person, seem to play down the symbiotic relationship that organisms have with their environmnets. The worlds a dynamic place , changes happen daily and animals adapt by changing to suit its new personality. Continents open and close, ocean currents shift from tropical to arctic, atmospheres change. (Dogs and cats... well , maybe not).
The Cretinists and the IDers want us to separate the earths changing environment and evolutionary adaptation . They say that One has NOTHING to do with the other. The fact that we have evidence (that long word stuff that rosborne said) and evidence that connects the two arenas, they are silent about the reality and the evidence supporting it.

Hey...if you had a bad ass god looking down your back every minute of every day...just waiting to catch you screwing up...(or "doubting")...so as to punish you for all eternity...

...you'd do some "playing down" also.

Jeez...you'd think the boogeyman would be left behind at adolescence.

In New Jersey, we would normally respond: "Bite me!"

I'm in New Jersey.

So...bite me.

nyah nyah. You can yell "bite me" all you want. I understand the anger one endures by living in New Jersey (with the total exception of the charming little town of Princeton)

Actually...I spend lots of time in Princeton. Lots of good eating places...and the town is loaded with spectacular looking women.

He's likely frightened by his own shadow, perceiving it as the Almighty showing up to spank his ass for being naughty. A piece of coal might show up in his Christmas stocking.

Really funny to see you running from the concept of 'chance' to embrace 'chaos' instead.

from merriamwebster.com[/u]
Quote:
Main Entry: cha·os
Pronunciation: 'kA-"äs
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin, from Greek -- more at GUM
1 obsolete : CHASM, ABYSS
2 a often capitalized : a state of things in which chance is supreme;[/u] especially : the confused unorganized state of primordial matter before the creation of distinct forms -- compare COSMOS b : the inherent unpredictability in the behavior of a complex natural system [/u](as the atmosphere, boiling water, or the beating heart)
3 a : a state of utter confusion <the blackout caused chaos throughout the city> b : a confused mass or mixture <a chaos of television antennas>

Very Happy Still playing silly semantic games, I see. I'd sure like to be able to get inside your head to try and find out how it works. NOT.

Sure. Something wrong.

Sure it does. LW is saying that RL is still plaing silly semantic games. It's a clear response to RL's standard "one trick pony" show that he trots out. What part of that didn't you understand.

The part about LW saying that rl was playing "silly semantic games" being proof that rl was playing silly semantic games which, assuming 'silly' is being used invidiously as it usually is, means sillier than the semantic games LW plays.

I couldn't follow that aspect of it in respect of meaning.

Ah, the old schoolyard, no I'm not -- you are. Really, I didn't know they served booze at the local grammar school. That kind of juvenile sophistry suits you just fine considering all the drivel you post.

Actually it has been a few (not all) evolutionists, such as yourself, who have from time to time asserted that the evidence for evolution IS irrefutable, and have become seriously agitated when any dared question it, quickly sliding into name-calling fits.

I have never demanded irrefutable evidence of evolution, but I have expressed in many ways my reservations about it and why I consider it to be far less than 'convincing beyond a reasonable doubt.'

Dissent may be troubling to you, and difficult for you to handle. I suggest you simply avoid talking with any who differ from your opinions, so as to not challenge your world-view.

For my part, I thoroughly enjoy conversation with those who do not agree with me.
