I've always liked the name Sophie, despite it becoming very popular. So does that make you Chai Sophie Tea?

And I agree, I think Sophie is a very nice name, actually.

Herbert. It was my father's first name and he never used it. He went by his middle name, Joe. I never use my middle name, only the initial. I guess we were both ok with it as long as we didn't have to use it. It does help to give everything the number 7 since my first, middle and last name all have 7 letters. Of course, Intrepid has 8.

well thanks gala & nimh.

I just can't see it as a popular name, and definitly not British.

To me, it's very slavic.

My mother was a sophie, actually on her birth certificate, it was Zosia.

C'mon nimh, what's your middle name?

When I was a kid growing up I always felt a wee bit ripped off. I never knew anyone save one brother who was without a middle name. All the kids in the hood had a plethora, enough to share, and there I was...a two named kid - first and last. C'est tout.
My real name sounds like I should be serving tea, or writing flowery poetry whilst wearing high necked collars with a cameo brooch.

I'm honoured to be amoungst a two named crowd. Finally!

Marian. I always wished it was my first name, I love that name and hate my first name. <sigh> I've changed my first name now (unofficially) to a variant of my given name that I like a bit better, but I still wish I'd just been named Marian. Stupid parents.

Chai, Sophie has always been one of my fave names. It's beautiful! Smile

Like cypher, I dislike my real (first) name too...I don't have a middle name. But like many Indians, I have alternative name - given by grandparents. It's "sevanti" - a chrysanthemum-like pretty yellow flower that grows here...

hey, and sophie is a lovely name

LOL....yeesh. I thought I corrected it in time. I hate it when people misspell my (rather difficult) name.

I agree with you ladies on the rathing boring attributes of the middle name Lynn....

But if I had been given the middle name of Victoria, my first name would have been Julia....hence named after my Great Aunt...both first and middle. Wouldn't have been so bad....but I can't imagine fitting that name..."Julia Victoria"...

I fit Stephanie Lynn so much better.....lol

No middle name here either. None of the girls in my family were given middle names, only my brother and they saddled him with Otis so we were just as glad. I use my maiden name as my middle name.

Mine is Marie. It's ok, and much better than my first name. What is kinda cool about it is that it has been the middle name of the eldest daughter going back at least 6 generations.

FYI, there are lots of babies being named Sophia nowadays. I'm not sure about the Sophie variant, though.
