A very picturesque building, I admit.

But I hardly can understand why a - very professional looking - couple take dozens of photos with four cameras ...

Orlando's:
Family-run local favourite, often crowded and packed ...favourites are adovada, blue-corn enchiladas ... (from Fodor's New Mexico

Quite interested, The Definate Guide to the Land of Enchantment differs here in the price category by two levels (higher than average) (they differed by 50 years on the age of the San Francis church as well), but praises this bar as "the best value you can find in and around Taos".

We read all that only after we had had a really super lunch there

No need for us to wait since we had finished alredy, but nota bene that withing the 30 mins or so of break, the Mexican owner family with the help and support of some Indians renewed the complete patio.

This view is similar as looking towards the Alps, if there wasn't the desert in front of the mountains ...

.... and houses built under the ground

"Just west of the Taos Gorge Bridge is what I call the "Earthship Landing Zone." This is a subdivision composed only of earthships, a type of alternative housing that incorporates car tires packed with dirt into the construction of the outer walls. Most of the house is bermed into the ground with only the southern walls exposed, allowing for passive solar heating and light. It's a very effective method of building in a desert setting, as long as the car tires are suitably sealed and the home is properly vented (with this southern exposure they can get too hot if not vented)."
