David Blaine: Human Stupidity Stunt

Is this guy a moron or what?

I don't get him at all. He isn't anything spectacular to look at while frozen in a block of ice or dangling in a box for 44 days. He's just stupid.

I'm not a fan, either, but unless the whole thing is a big fake, it sounds really dangerous. And people dig it; he makes $$$ off these stunts.

Anyone who wants to read a wacky fictional account of Blaine suspended over the Thames should read "Clear" by Nicola Barker. It's really about his "fans."

Bella, when he did his stunt in Trafalgar Square (living in a box, suspended in the air) he expected to get nothing but admirers flocking in to see him.

Instead, crowds of people turned up to lob things at him, other people took turns to shout obscenities and everyone thought that he was a self publicising wanker.

I don't think he'll be doing another stunt in Britain.

I have to agree.

I did see him getting spoofed on South Park, which was very funny.

It's the 'thing' now to laugh at David Blaine and his Blainthologists. We can roll our eyes at him like we do Mr. Cruise and his dumb-ass carrying-on.

This is probably the same thing they said about Houdini, more or less.

Altho' I don't get David Blaine's stunts, I do think he harkens back to the old days of master magicians and illusionists and there's something mysterious and romantic and wonderful about that.

His magic is one thing.

His trapping himself in a glass coffin for days is just plain stupid.

I think his street magic is great.

Mankind has certainly progressed. Had this man lived, oh, I don't know, 1500 years ago, he'd be a saint by now.

Ok so i broke down and tuned in at 9p (It was a 8-10p special) I can't belive I watched this.

They did show some clips of his street magic which I must say is pretty cool. And then they spent 45 minutes talking about his peeling skin, his muscle pain and how dangerous this whole thing was...he was to break out of chains while underwater for 9 minutes. The world record is 8m 59s (!!!!! Shocked ) And he was only able to go for 7m 5 s or something like that. And I swear to you, he was almost unconscious because the stupid divers couldn't seem to get his head above water.

What a moron.

But you watched.

Personally, I think alot of it is for show. Illusion. He's always at deaths' door and it's always major drama before he's whisked away to the hospital, clinging to life. Rolling Eyes

Im all for freedom of expression and people doing what they want to do but all I could think of this morning as he was taken away by ambulance to get checked over was, what a waste of an ambulance and with all the people dying in the world why does he want to on purposefully get so close to death.Yes I know about his 'I feel most alive when im close to death' thing.

Wasnt the living in a box thing near London/Tower bridge not Trafalgar square?

I heard on the radio that he is considered a hero in America. Why?
