JB - I got some interesting info at a website designated for those over 50!
By the way, Boomer, I was just looking through google and saw that maybe you should try researching this as leg pain as opposed to hip pain.
Boomerang, I'd echo what the shewolf said. Bursitis. I have the same problem, in the same area that you've described. Take a look at this:
Bursitis
Lookit the pic:
(that seems roughly the area that you're talking about...)
I know nothing about any of this, so just generalized goodwill and healing thoughts winging westward...
I'm not sure why this is all so funny.
(The blue bubbly things are the bursae, that are the problem-causers with hip pain. Taken from mckenzie's link.) (Hi mckenzie!)
No really this is not a hip problem.
This deal lies somewhere between my hip bone and my belly button. It still hurts this morning and if it doesn't get better I'm calling the doctor. It is really nutty weird.
gustavratzenhofer wrote:Boomer, take a close look at that image of a hipbone I posted. Does that not clear things up for you?
I can only do so much.
Stop post pictures of your children, Gus.
How long has it been hurting, boomer? And what time does the doctor's office open this morning? Maybe it's been hurting long enough...
Nothing a good shot of Coritzone can't fix... unless you don't want whiskers.
My hip bone doesn't connect to my belly button. Am I weird?
Boomer, I'd say more likely a pulled/ strained abdominal muscle, ovary or possible hernia.
I've been having some pain about an inch or so either side of belly button, slightly angling towards hip bone. Ovarian cysts appeared on the ultrasound. Waiting to find out if that is the source, though.
Calling a doctor???
When you can get all this expert advise on A2K???
Silly girl.
I'd like to add my voice to those requesting a visit to the doctor.
If you really enjoy the guessing, though, you could call the Indian tech support line and get diagnosed over the phone.
D'oh! George beat me to it... and was funnier, too.
grumble, grumble
I was just gonna wonder about ovarian cyst!
Doctor is good idea.
Take care Boomer and Squinney.
I think I gave the impression that it was a hip problem from my title. I was really just using the hip bone as a starting place - kind of like a map. (So no, squinney, you're just as normal as me. )
Honestly, if it was on the other side I'd think it might be my appendix. It is in about that same spot but on the left side.
Did you ever watch the movie "Alien"?

I'm thinking on the same lines as this. As I was reading through the thread, I kept thinking it sounds like you pulled something, but I wouldn't let it go to long without seeing a doc.
Hope you feel better.
Okay - I've got a call into the doctor despite all of the good advice here!
You know, I probably wouldn't give it a second thought if it hadn't been for the insane vomiting a few days ago which I wrote off to a stomach virus.
Could be nothing, could be something. That's why I have insurance.
Insane vomiting?!
Glad you're having the doc check things out.
