Wow, Dorothy! That's a big hit of protein. (Weighs you down, don't it? )
It must be barbeque time in the UK?

Sure does, msolga.

I even had the left-over sausages with brown sauce in a barm for breakfast the next next day.

Meat makes me happy!

I actually had sushi yesterday. We got the spicy tuna rolls, then a crab and fish combo roll thingie, and then shrimp rolls I think. Oh, also some chicken satay (sp?). I have never really been a big fan of sushi, but for some reason I actually enjoyed it! I'm so surprised at myself. Oh, and we had lots of sake as well. It was a very enjoyable dinner, I must say.

There was definitely ginger. I don't know if it was pickled though. How can you tell? And if wasabi is that super hot green stuff, then yes. Oh, no, that stuff is tahini or something, isn't it? What is wasabi again?

I really don't know much about sushi, so please forgive my completely ignorant response here...

Ooh, I just looked it up. That green stuff was wasabi! Yes, we did have that! I still don't know if the ginger was pickled. I guess if that's the way it usually comes, then it probably was. Good stuff.

I'm sure the sushi places in New York are much better than the one here in Manchester (Yo! Sushi) but the pickled ginger is usually very thinly sliced, a pinky colour and soaked in a sweet vinegar.

My mouth is watering.

Never had sake, get you hammered I heard.

grilled salmon steaks with a sugar lime dressing, and extremel fresh snow peas in a garlicky chicken stock. Some of the snow peas were still alive and acreaming in their dishes.
We began picking the snow peas and will be so doing for about a week.

Hmmmm ... I was just thinking, Dorothy, I haven't had fish & chips for ages! But then, it's hard to find good fish & chip places anymore. A good fix would be great, now & then!

But back to last night:

One of my no-fail, fallback el quicko recipes that I love Very Happy :

Mushrooms sauteed in olive oil (with copious quantities of garlic & some chilli flakes gently fried in the oil beforehand), with lots of chopped parsley & black pepper added at the end ..... then tossed with penne.

YUM!

I went overboard with the garlic & it was fabulous! Anyone fancy kiss? Laughing

Spanish banquet tapas kind of stuff. Goodness knows what most of it was, but it was great. I liked the prawns in garlic butter.
