Tofu, baby spinach & zucchini in a Thai yellow curry sauce. On steamed Basmatic rice.
Rather nice.
Also quick & easy to prepare!

I was just and only the beloved uncle - it happened in a restaurant.
(Braised sucking pig cheeks are actually the most expensive meat of those little pigs I leanrt today.)

Oh, and that menu was special bargain for me as well since today is/was our wedding anniversary, too

I got a bit carried away tonight & made a huge pot of an old favourite (Anna Thomas) soup tonight. (The recipe was supposedly for around 16 serves, but I reckon it's actually closer to 30!) But it was raining & a bit chilly, so a substantial soup seemed an excellent idea: heaps of lentils, onion, garlic, potatoes, carrots, silverbeet (chard), chopped coriander. Then, at the very end, two big tablespoons of roasted, then ground, cumin & the juice of a whole lemon. Very nice, but I think I'll have to make a few donations to friends! The pot (biggest one in the house) was so full of soup I felt like a witch stirring her cauldron. Now I'm exhausted! Laughing

since this is our annual "special" day Laughing - we stopped counting last year Very Happy , we treated ourselves to lunch at one of our favourite restaurents in town .
the "rivermill" restaurant is located in a former woolen mill right by the rideau canal with a wonderful view over the river .
both food and service are always outstanding and the prices very reasonable .
mrs h ordered veal liver - her usual - and i had some smoked beef-brisket with the trimmings - even included some nice sauerkraut side ; we shared a large ceasar and had several cups of tea .
we passed on the dessert - we'll make up for it around 5 o'clock with homemada cheesecake and some chocolate-truffel torte .
felt like "croesus" BEFORE he went on the pyre Shocked
hbg

ps. "living like croesus" or "living like god in france" are favourite german expressions to describe the "good life" Laughing

dys : i agree : no cream sauce , please !
though i do like a small pat of sweet (unsalted) butter on my vegetables and new potatoes - with a bit of fresh parsley , chives and dill from the garden .
