Nobody to cook for again but me, so I didn't! Leftover roast chicken on toasted whole wheat with red pepper jelly and sliced tomatoes. Musk melon (cantaloupe) for dessert.

I'm cooking up some wagon wheel pasta to have with left-over lamb from yesterday, and some cauliflower and corn. It's all a bit pale, so I think some big slices of tomato are called for - with lotsa black pepper and a lil salt.

I think I'm going to do a steamed egg thing - basically whisked eggs and water with various things added, then steamed in a glass pie dish ... or baked. It comes out like a quiche sans crust. Will report what I put in it once I check out the fridge and the cupboards.

here's an interveiw with the author

That's a really interesting concept, djjd. Imagine photographing & keeping a record of everything that goes in your mouth, for a whole year! There must be a few "horror entries" in there, too!

According to the author:If you ask most people what they ate for dinner last night, they won't remember. That's sad. Maybe this book will inspire people to pay attention and remember what they eat, and who they were with, and why. It's meaningful. Finding this kind of meaning in food, right under my nose, has made me a more thoughtful, happier person.

Not only do I enjoy keeping a (rather vague) record of what I eat on this thread, I'm actually strangely fascinated at what the rest of you eat!

Nah, Dorothy. In my case, anyway, I think it means that I'm a sticky nose! What people eat tells me a lot about them, how they live their lives. And I also think cooking & preparation of food can be such a creative activity ... I like to get inspiration from others here.

... & speaking of creativity & inspiration, tonight's dinner was a focaccia (sp?) roll with a little butter & raspberry jam! I'm tired. I'll try to do better tomorrow, OK?

Oh and cafe latte and a really ripe banana for dessert

Maultaschen - Swabian pockets

(But I've bought them made by the butcher, only made the bouillon (just now, since it's actually tomorow's lunch.)

[Spinach with omelette today.]

Tried to cook some Mexican food-
Mole Negra with chicken and rice. Quite happy with the result.

I've only made ravioli a few times from scratch. I find it tricky in that the pasta has to be just moist enough to keep the edges together. It's entirely a tidier matter to buy them!

Costco/Kirkland makes some damn fine four cheese raviolis. To heck with making them at home.

Well, I've had some wonderful ravioli by various chefs.. with squash, with truffles, this and that special concoction.

The ones I made I think had squash and crushed amaretti in them, as well as the more usual spinich and cheese.

but certainly for everyday mode, ravioli from ital delis are fine. Haven't tried Costco's (it is pretty far away for me).
