Dinner last night was a few Doritos and a few Pringles and loads of alcohol.

Going for a curry tonight and NOT drinking.

well, I survived the golf (almost) - and even the lunch to follow - jeez some people can cook.
The mother of my friend was a restaurant cook, now retired. They live opposite the golf course. We came home to fresh made that morning tortellini (unsure of filling) with a sauce of a variety of mushrooms in cream. To nibble were some of her dad's home pickled olives - which are probably the best I've ever eaten, and some fresh organic Italian sort of bread from the new bakery in the next town.
Then we had chicken marinated in lemon, garlic, olive oil and goodness knows what else - and it was just brilliant (and I'm a chicken lover from way back!).

I couodn't fit in the home made gelato and other desserts. Was forced to have a nap - and had to drive the winding road back in the dark (bit spooky)

But - the south coast of New South Wales (my state) is just magnificent. A very happy little camper tonight! Still not needing any food, just a drink or two!

Back to wax beans.

I like them sorta poached in chicken broth with s/p, chives, italian parsley.

Fresh beans in season are a marvel.

That sounds good, ehBeth! I'll try it when they're in season here.

Yum, margo! Sounds absolutely delicious!

Me: tonight was "left-overs" night ... a bit of this & a bit of that, then a bit of the other. I decided it was unwise to cook when I had a fridge full of left-over pasta, roast chicken, roast vegetables, etc, etc, etc ... Time to clear some space in there!

MsOlga, I have news on the mung bean front...
yesterday I saw some red lentils at the market and bought them. Today Diane and I went to an international market on the other side of town, and yes, they had peeled mung beans. So... soon I'll try your recipe. That market is fabulous, I could lose track of day and night in there.

No fuss dinner last night -- everybody on the go and eating at different times. Grilled low-fat turkey sausages on whole wheat buns with all the fixin's and simple garden salad. Yogurt and blueberries for dessert. Tonight? No idea yet....

Here's what's on the menu for tonight:

beef tenderloin salad with peppers, scallions, cucumbers, tomato, shallots and other veggies with a lime-soy dressing.

yellow chicken curry in a coconut sauce over steamed rice (because I have all the ingredients left over)

and a cool glass of fresh made lime soda to wash it down

Umm, I'm still feasting on dinner last night, this time around its cold...but still good.

Beef and Cheese Quesadilla's...(Did I spell that right?)

Fajita meat...sauteed with onions, cumin...a lil salt,pepper....

layered onto a flour tortilla with mild cheddar cheese and monterey jack, cooked up...slicked and covered with garden salsa and lettuce.

Awww, but I'm full now.....

A couple of pals and I went out for mediocre chinese food yesterday afternoon. We're conducting an extended chinese-vietnamese-japanese-indian-thai food survey in our metropolitan area. One restaurant down, 49 to go...

Well, the veggies were good, it wasn't completely mediocre.

However, I wasn't hungry later, just had a bowl of soup (Baxter's Cream of Scottish Smoked Salmon).

Love it!

Tonight it was our favorite summer supper - sweet corn, sliced tomatoes and risotto.

went shopping this morning and picked up everything we needed for a splendid meal - with "leftovers" Smile for two more days :
a nice slice of halibut , some marinated catfish , tailpiece - my fav- of salmon , new potatoes , some local bok choi , side salad with tomatoes fresh from our garden , glass of V8 .
for dessert we had red currants from the garden (marinated Very Happy Shocked in cointreau) with a spoonful of frozen yoghurt - yummy !
hbg

ps never under-estimate the health-benefits of red currants (even marinated ones Laughing )

Uh, deep doo doo here. I just posted on this thread and it's not here.
So, on what other thread did I describe chicken with ginger, basil, chili, and lime?
