We had a nice lunch in Palm Springs with my Pal Anthony. Walked into the house and my roast smells fabulous. Going to make the mashed potatoes and gravy in a bit.

Steaming some fresh green beans as well.

@hawkeye10,
Im a fan of shepherd's pies. Are there any different ingredients for the venison version that youd wish to share??

@farmerman,
Tonight we grilled steaks, enjoyed corn on the cob and a fresh tomato salad i make with a little fresh basil, salt, pepper and a homemade mayo. I like to slice the tomatoes (local) and mix all the ingredients about 2 hours before serving...it gives the tomato time to bleed and the other flavor to blend nicely...well I like it.

Im sure there is a better word than bleed, but I'm tired and need to get some sleep.

Do you get much beer in a growler? I'll stick with glasses thank you.

Pollo Francesca at Lucia Ristorante in Winchester MA.
Calamari appetizer, some Chianti.
I should have brought some of the pasta home.
But it was sooo good.

@George,
I just had to look: Albuquerque doesn't abound with great italian food, in my fussbudget opinion. Er, except some of the time, at my house.

Sounds very good...

Sunday dinner will be Beef Burgundy, I've made it several times and it's always a hit with the kids.

Following this Recipe

@ehBeth,
In a plate with some depth, not quite a bowl. The lentils and sauce were
the base, half and half. The lamb shank was on top garnished with a sprig
of green.

I had a cabernet sauvignon with it.

@ehBeth,
The next night we were at La Colombe in the Plateau section. Jim C knows
the owner. I had cauliflower soup, leg of rabbit with what we would call
"heritage" vegetables and polenta, and then a chocolate crème brulee.

I wasn't all that impressed with the rabbit. The crème brûlée, however was
outrageously good! For serious chocoholics only.

@George,
I've only had rabbit once... (I think, maybe one other time) ...thinking, that was in Volterra, high on what to see re etruscan sites plus a good musuem. Across the street, there was a restaurant named Ombre della Sera, named after my favorite sculpture. Not just in that museum, but anywhere. I admit to fondness for that town and its history.

I liked the meal, in memory, but that memory is shady. Did it taste like chicken? I'd say not quite, but forget the details.

@George,
Still smiling about the pic with Jim C. That's going to be my Saturday night screensaver.

I'm a fan of rabbit. mrs. hamburger used to serve it - prepared in a romertopf (clay baker) a few times a year. Mulling over the idea of rabbit with polenta.

Trying to remember what I ate tonight. Obviously nothing memorable other than the bowl of grapes I worked my way through.

@ehBeth,
Jim is coming up on 30 years on CBC.
That's a long time to dodge the budget bullet.
