Oh, yum, Swimpy!

Last night, after a late afternoon movie (Haw-haw) we had a quick Indian meal on the way back home: tandoori chicken, potato & mushroom curry on steamed rice, with garlic nan (bread). It was good & quick. We were starving & very, very cold!

Just getting ready to have a really late dinner tonight. Seriously late. It's 10:30 p.m.

Marinated sirloin steak, with new potatoes, parsley, dill, and a dollop of sour cream, also Greek (Horitaki) salad with lots of feta cheese.

He musta made it up!

No-one in Oz eats Marmite (with the possible exception of that odd rabbit, dlowan!) - VEGEMITE, if you please.

And no-one here drinks Fosters - that's the stuff they drink overseas and label it Australian!

One of my el quicko pastas. Sliced button mushrooms cooked in olive oil (that's had garlic & chili flakes gently heating in it). Then lots of chopped parsley added at the last minute before tossing through just cooked penne. (Out of linguine, which I'd usually use in this.)

It was the Marmite that caused me to be deeply suspicious, too, margo!
Come on, Algis, tell us what you really had for dinner!

Vegemite, marmite, termite... what's the difference?

I made a pseudo chicken cordon bleu with ham and gouda cheese baked over bone-in chicken breasts. It was pretty good.

Homemade Pizza Marguerita. I made the dough last night and let it rise in the fridge. It was nice and chewy, just the way I like it. I topped with with olive oil, salt and garlic, fresh mozzerella, sliced tomatoes and basil.

On the Friday before each long weekend (Happy Canada Day to me, eh), the office closes an hour early. My friend, E, and I wander over to Spadina/Kensington, browse, wander, taste, generally have a good time.

Last night we stopped at The Dumpling House Restaurant for dinner. We ordered 12 pan fried chicken dumplings, and an order of Chicken, Vegie, Peanuts in Spicy Garlic Sauce over Rice. I brought the left-overs back for Set, as well as an order of 12 steamed Pork and Chive Dumplings. He's finishing those off for breakfast.

steamed first, and then lightly pan-fried on one side

Look, I don't want you all to think that I only eat Indian food, but ....
tonight, after my first day back at work, the very last thing I felt like doing was cooking & creating a mess in my midget-sized kitchen, so ... I dropped in to see Mrs Himalaya on the way home & ended up with a beef curry on steamed rice, with potato & pumpkin as well. The Himalaya Cafe is a trap after a wearifying day, it being a mere 5 minutes (on foot) from my front doorstep & the food being pretty good, too. Mrs Himalaya is a delight as well .... & I'm getting to know her far better than I ever thought I would!

Fish soup... oh, fish bouillion cube, water, clam juice with sauteed onions, celery, garlic, anaheim chiles, then some chopped carrot, some sliced red potatoes, and, after all that has simmered til potatoes are cooked, tada, a can of sardines in hot sauce broken into bits. I know, odd, but I like it.

It was, Osso. I would like to know how to get the pizza dough to relax so I can roll it thinner. Any tips?

I've never been real scientific about my pizza dough. Sometimes it's more relaxed, sometimes you practically have to drive over it with a truck, breaking down the gluten or whatever it is. Oh, it could be timing of rising, amount of yeast, I dunno, whack!

You're a hoot, m'dear. I've heard that you need to rest it if it's being recalcatrant, but that doesn't always work either. I'll keep experimenting.
