Late lunch/early dinner today. At my favourite cafe in "little Saigon" in Footscray. I think I've developed an addiction to that omelettey dish - a bit of it at a time wrapped in lettuce leaf, with lots of fresh herbs throw in, then dipped in a tangy sauce. It is absolutely delicious! I'm dreaming of our next visit there, already.
Olga -Put me down for this place next time I'm in Melburg! There's a real shortage of good Viet places around here. One opened up a cuppla km's away about 6 months ago - but the food is very ordinary - not worth the effort.
But when are you coming north???
Well - I ate well so the Wallabies won - clobbered those Poms - we needed the weight in the scrums! - but Roger Federer lost to Nadal - he must need a lighter diet!
First Aussie World Cup match tonight - need something solid for Aus vs Japan! They're complaining that the Aussies are bullies! Just imagine???

Done!
You'll enjoy it, margo. Though it's a very down to earth cafe - no frills at all - but the omelettey-thing: Yum!
When am I coming to Sin City?: Soonish, I sincerely hope?
Fri - BBQ (cauliflowers, pineapples, kebabs, cottage cheese, cherry tomatos, peppers, mushrooms - far too much food washed down with Sangria)
Sat - Indian food - (parathas, potatoes, ladyfingers, aubergines, lentis - far too much food washed down with JW Black)
Sun - Pizza, salad, cheese rolls, potatoe wedges - far too much food washed down by White wine)
I am going to too many parties - I need to cut down. I have one today (monday of all days, but I am taking out my senior management team for a drinkup and dinner), then again on Fri (Jamaican household) and again on Sat (Thai friends) and Sun lunch (driving down to the sea side to have a pub lunch)
It's been cool here so I made soup. Roasted vegetable soup, to be exact. It was most delicious. We also had raost chicken and mushroom risotto. <burp>
Bought one of Mrs Himalaya's (cafe) take-aways on the way home tonight: Lamb curry with dal & beans on steamed rice. Just ate it. Very good! Now I'm having a glass of wine to celebrate being on holiday for a couple of weeks!
Yummmm
And WOW a holiday
Doing something nice?
It's a public holiday here - so we had "Tafelspitz" (boiled beef in horseradish sauce) with potatoes and cauliflower.

Yes, I'm doing something
very good for myself, G. I'm going to rest, not stress at all & I'm going to get rid of this bloody cold that's hung around for about 10 days now. And, of course, I'm going to
cook!
Your 3 nights of dinners sounded excellent!
Do you cook for yourself anymore?
Bloody
teachers, margo?
You wouldn't think that if you saw my exhausted, feeble state as I recover. Moma mia! Am I
stuffed!
Anyway, back to dinner last night:
Cauliflower Gratin with Gruyere and Hazelnuts:
Well, it was reasonably tasty, but I would say I was wildly excited by it! Actually the best part was the toasted Hazelnuts!
I'll try something else from the suggestions before too long. Ya can't eat cauliflower every night, ya know!
The great cauliflower challenge!:

Thinking of pasta with half + half/gorgonzola sauce, but y'know, mebbe a tuna sandwich..
That pasta option sounds good, osso.
Me, I'm thinking some takeaway tandoori something or other ... A hit of spice would be nice!
But I may well end up with a tuna sandwich, too. (Feeling lazy today.)

Olga - I couldn't teach if my life depended on it - but I envy the more frequent holidays teachers have!
Margo, my dear, that was just shameless manipulation on my part to gain your sympathy!
I see it
worked.
So now you can continue as before .......
Dinner last night: left-over cauliflower dish from the previous night. I
must eat out tonight!
lazy supper tonight, lettuce (various types), some sourdough croutons, two small tins of clover leaf tuna (one sundried tomato and basil, one tomato and onion), salad dressing
Chicken Biryani - Steamed basmati Rice layered with spice-marinated chicken pieces layered under it. Saucy chicken, more than 30 different spices with Dry fruits and the fresh Basmati rice, made my day.
That sounds delicious, vinsan! Yum!
(Nice to see you again!
)
Me tonight - dinner at a little cafe after an early film session: lamb curry, dal, pumpkin, green beans & potatos on steamed rice.
Tonight it's cold poached salmon with a yogurt/cucumber/lemon/garlic/dill sauce, tomato salad and rice pilaf. I'm trying to eat healthier.
Setanta is creating mushroom/Vidalia/havarti veal burgers, with steamed asparagus and bits of salad on the side.
Yum. It all smells so good right now.
