A wee bit of a chill in the air tonight so I cooked my first pot of soup this year. An easy one. Chicken pieces cooked in stock with carrots, celery some garlic cloves, plus green beans & half a cup of rice thrown in towards the end. Pretty good & quite a bit left over for later.

I made a nice tortilla this evening, Spanish omelette, but not exactly as per the recipe I had, I put some chopped sliced sausage into it, and some fried onion.

But it was really good. I was quite proud of it.

@Rockhead,
Rockhead, it was not my recipe, I ate at a friends. Talk about drooling. Friend just arrived home from the gulf region, and brought back some jumbo shrimp. It was prepared a few different ways, etouffee, being one. I do not think I ever ate a shrimp that large.

@ossobuco,
I have two porterhouse steaks marinating, red potatoes with fresh parsley and butter and a salad with blue cheese crumbles, strawberries, candied pecans and redwine vinegrette.

and a nice Bordeaux -

gonna' grill the steaks as soon as I tuck the three little boys in the bed.

@ossobuco,
Not a meatloaf fan. Pondering,..that dreadful meatloaf day,...years, years ago,...turkey sized loaf of meat,...the aunt was a great aunt,..must of been close to a hundred years old,.....I do not know what she was thinking,....shaping pound after pound of meat,..into a loaf, then jamming it into a large sized turkey roaster,....shivers,....vivid image still, slab of rare loaf meat, many unidentifiable ingredients oozing out of piece,..

Meat and cheese quesadilla.

@alex240101,
Even I, a meatloaf lover, would quiver at that, Alex..

Tonight will be previously cooked pork ribs, cal-rose rice, some french cut green beans (frozen at this moment) with slivered shallot, o/oil/pepper/wine vinegar.

the ribs - http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/08/featured-recipe-spare-ribs-with-olives-lemon-and-rosemary/

@ossobuco,
I made something I have never made before.

Gnocci...it was great. I made a garlic, pesto cream sauce...tossed the gnocci, some grilled chicken I diced and some fresh little grape tomatoes I sliced in two. Had steamed broccoli and iced tea (sweet).

It was SO good....it's in the rotation.

@djjd62,
came back from dance class raaaaaaaavenous
wanted pizza but didn't have the time to waste

broke up a bit of honey garlic turkey sausage into a skillet, cut in a bit of maple bacon, broke in two gorgeous big eggs, threw on some shredded Italian cheese blend - served it onto a few pieces of torn up bread

fast and so so so good

protein before class would have been a good idea, but sometimes I don't think that through properly

While (not exactly successfully) trying to A2K, I'm also in the process of cooking a new recipe (for me) at the same time. : Cuban Black Bean Soup. Consisting of turtle beans (which I haven't used before) onions, red capsicum, garlic cloves, ham hock roasted in the oven, canned crushed tomatoes, cumin, chilli flakes, etc, etc, etc ... then 8 hours in the slow cooker.

A bit of a change from my usual pea & ham soup. I hope it works out well!

Taking a batch over to a friend's place tonight. It's going to be another cold night. Brrrr!

@msolga,
Earlier on we had broiled chicken livers, a spinach salad and loaded potato.
Ug, ug, ug. Well, the potato wasn't so bad, but it didn't drown the liver out. So, we got that liver necessity food out of the way for awhile.

Then, I had 3 vanilla chocolate covered ice cream bars. Just had to.
