@Swimpy,
Sounds great.. both the stew and the soup, dj and swimp.

Tonight - a bowl of homemade black beans, sauteed onions, jalapeno bits, spices, spicy bratwurst - delicious

followed by some weird tofu pockets I made - the pockets stuffed with rice, peas, rice vinegar, and pickled ginger, some ham. Too much of the sweet rice vinegar, gah.

@ossobuco,
Hello Ossobuco. Don't cringe, but, the other day while making that linguine and clam sauce recipe , I found myself, dicing a tomato that I had to use up,...and adding to the sauce. It worked.

@alex240101,
Why not, I say. I sometimes make a fish soup with a tomato base and add clams..

Tonight: an easy soup. Rice & chicken breast strips cooked gently in chicken stock, then a mixture of lemon juice, egg yolks & Parmesan cheese whisked through at the last minute. Served with more grated cheese, grated nutmeg & chopped flat leaf parsley. Not bad.

I'm starting something for tonight.

Sauteed some maple-cured bacon, tossed in 2 big quartered red onions and a handful of mushrooms. I'm letting things kinda meld right now with a tiny bit of garlic. In about 30 minutes, I'll be putting about 6 chicken leg quarters into the crock pot with some chicken broth, the bacon/onion/mushroom/garlic mix, a lot more mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, and a bit of tomato paste (love the intensity of flavour that adds, but I sometimes forget and wonder why the results are off), and a package of Italian herbs for chicken in the slow cooker (lazy lazy lazy).

We'll have the result over fresh pasta tonight, with a side of salad.

@ehBeth,
Doing the math... .Set + Leftovers = 0

Squash ravioli. Not a fan of squash,..but it was good, drowning in a heavy garlic pesto sauce.

Tonight. Venison burgers, on olive loaf. Debating if portobellos will grace the top of burger, or be on the sidelines. French fries.

@alex240101,
No fat in venison. Choked on burgers. No amount of ketchup helped.

pot roast in the slow cooker
potatoes (yellow, red and sweet) and parsnip tossed in olive oil and roasted in the oven (the parsnip and sweet potato got a little well done, but came out kind of caramelized)
turnip mashed with butter and black pepper
lima beans
rolls
gravy

must eat something that resembles a salad tomorrow

Had the traditional Surf & Turf on Christmas Eve

Mysteryman had predicted lobster prices would swoon and he was right.They're down to $5.99 per lobster.(average .3/4 lb).

A thick New York Strip and asparagus with cabbage salad rounded things out.
Someone told me to add a little sesame oil to the salad and it's the trick.

@panzade,
we visited some friends down the road and they (being of Italian extraction) served up a "seven fishes" supper on Xmas Eve. Very very good.

Today we had a large HAM with sides and corn johny cake , blackeyes, crowder , greens in pot liiker, okry, and scallop taters. Neighbors and kids brought desserts and other stuff.
Twere good and Im just cruisin the web with my son .Im showin him some sites that I frequent.

Say hello Kid.
