@djjd62,
zuppe de cozze. Mrs F and I had this prepared for us by the Chef at Northeast Md "MAin Place". It is outstanding. Its a mussles (about 4 dozen per large plate, in a wine and garlicky fennel sauce. Served over garlicky linguini. Cannoli and espresso for dessert.

@djjd62,
Sounds good, djjd!

I had something rather similar a few nights ago, minus the tomato sauce. Lotsa garlic, too! Very Happy

Last night: White cooked chicken (using the Chinese poaching & steeping method) & a few vegies on the side.

I braised some short ribs, then defatted after chilling the "dutch oven". Delicious - sauteed onions, carrots, chicken stock, sauvignon blanc, parsley, bay, thyme.. eventually peas, barley. I feel a need for some jalapeno, easily solved.

Well, that was today.
Now I'm soaking some black beans..

@ehBeth,
Yes!

I did a bit of tinkering with the recipe this time, though. I wanted it a bit more "cooked"! Wink

After clicking on that link mmpasta, I decided on a chicken/artichoke/mushroom dish, light sauce (whipping cream or white wine), over a bed of,....of ling,...angel,.....hm, still deciding pasta type. Ceasar salad.

@farmerman,
Last time I steamed a group of mussels, I unshelled, set aside, thickened steaming broth, added mussels back, and enjoyed as soup.

Last night was a rare improv success. I had made some spicy mashed sweet potatoes for t-giving (yum!) and I had leftover Thai red curry paste and coconut milk from that, as well as some remaining sweet potatoes. I dumped the coconut milk (maybe a cup and a half) in my big stock pot, then added 2-3 teaspoons of the paste and combined. Then I added some water because it didn't seem like enough and I thought the water would boil off with what I had planned (it did). I put in about 5 cloves of garlic, minced. Added some kosher salt later.

Put in a bunch of cubed sweet potatoes and regular potatoes and brought to a boil and then let simmer/ boil gently for about half an hour. It was really good! Savory and flavorful, with a nice sauce.

@sozobe,
Hey that sounds good, soz! It's great when you "go creative" & it works out so well.

Me, I made (getting out the cookbook to get this right Smile ) "Boeuf bourguignon" ... or beef casserole, if I'm not trying to impress! Wink It was actually very good .. probably because the beef was marinated (in red wine with garlic cloves & fresh thyme) for nearly a day in the fridge before cooking. Then very slowly cooked in the oven with bacon, onions & mushrooms.

@djjd62,
I made some fabulous soup tonight, if I do say so myself. I started by roasting some cauliflower florets. While that was in the oven, I sweated some onion, carrot and celery in a little butter and olive oil. Added some garlic, curry and cumin. Once it all started smelling yummy, I added some peeled and cut up potatoes. Poured in some chicken and veggie broths and simmered until the potatoes were done. I blitzed all that with a stick blender until it was velvety. By then the cauliflower was done. I added that to the soup and ate it.
