@msolga,

I haven't forgotten. I'm thinking of starting a new thread (rather than clog up this one). Maybe called Easy Peasy Curries & other super easy dinners. Smile What do you think? Are you still interested?

@msolga,
Well if there is sufficient interest in really easy recipes, sure, but serously I only need at most one super easy simple quick chicken curry recipe. And I'm not sure I can get hubby to try that. He doesn't have many prejudices, but unfortunately the smell of curry is one of them. Another is people who wear their ball caps backwards but that's another issue. Smile

So anyhow, don't start another thread just for me. I just have a whole can of curry (that he bought by accident) that I would like to use once before its expiration date.

Tonight for us it was sweet and sour pork loin, marinated in a good pineapple teriyaki sauce, stir fried with chow mein veggies and served on a bed of crispy chow mein noodles. (I was out of rice.) Not bad. The local food critic has requested a repeat.

@Foxfyre,
I remember that Endymion is interested in curries, and I'm moderately interested.. I bet there are others. (I still remember eating my first indian curry. Nearly cried, it was so hot. But of course they're not all that hot.)

@ossobuco,
Thanks, osso. I'm wondering, actually, if a curry thread actually exists here, somewhere? Haven't got the time to check tonight, though ....

Sorry, Rocky, I didn't see this comment yesterday. I doubt I'll be using the beef ribs again. (But my cat liked them when I tried them out on her! Wink )

@farmerman,
Do you dig your own clams?
Clam-ped down?
Are you happy as a clam?
Are your hands clammy from shucking clams?

Advertisement for Clam Jerky:
Tengu Clam Jerky (Tengu Co.): Nothing you've ever consumed can prepare you for the horror that is clam jerky. Still, this product does score a sort of conceptual coup: If you're the sort who's always found raw clams too slimy and gelatinous for your taste, these dried, shriveled mollusks will help you dislike clams on a whole new level.

zam clam
Zam Clam: is the term used, for when a cheesy joke is inserted at the end of a conversation, and everyone involved laughs. often seen at the end of many 80's sitcoms and cartoons.

Sorry. I'll clam up now.

@msolga,
Beef ribs can be fantastic, but they need a seriously long cooking time.

MAB and I sampled some great ones at the Royal Winter Fair last November. I think mckenzie found the link to the recipe and posted it. The chef had started them the day before - I don't think I even know any beef rib recipes that are one day recipes.

Well, unless you just have to have fresh spices for something special, most of what is readily available to us comes in little jars like this:

Or in packets or tins like this:

The curry I have is in a tin (can) more like the Old Bay seasoning pictured.

@Foxfyre,
I know I've got a simple recipe or two. Busy right now peeling lemons (another story, this is a rest phase). Back on a possible can curry a bit later.

@ossobuco,
I have these two 'canned' curries -

Kashmiri Mild Curry

Actually, there's a recipe on that link that's interesting..

Scroll on that link and you'll see other curry mixes, Madras Tamarind Hot Curry being my favorite, and there's probably a recipe or two there too.
Me, I just put it in stuff, like scrambled eggs, some soups, pat it onto some chicken to bake.

I have most of the ingredients for more complicated curries, but not all, all the time.

@ehBeth,
Near Broadkill beach Del. We're freeloading in my wifes sisters place on the beach. Weve been goofing off and fishing and Ive been painting swamp scenes in oils.

Were gonna be in the Fundy area from mid August till just after labor day. (I didnt succeed in selling my boat, and with diesel coming down by a half from last year, we can afford to go offshore on e more time).

@Foxfyre,
yes we dig our own. (In delaware , we take a small rowboat our and go to Assawoman Bay and stand in water up to our hips and scrape the bottom with a long handled "clam rake" when you hit a clam under the sand, it makes a characteristic "eek eek sound" . SO you can dive down and clean up the clam pocket. Its great fun and, although were limited to the number of clams pwr license per day, we can get as much as we can eat.

Its probably cheaper to buy the c;ams , cherrystones cost about 28$ a hundred. But the time e spend just going out and clamming all together is fun time.
