stewed with mushrooms bacon onion and a touch of garlic.
I think i'm reliving my child hood
@dadpad,
doesn't the rabbit have to hang slightly to age?
~~~
last night here - peameal bacon roast with a carrot smoothie/maple syrup and mustard marinade/glaze
ham and cabbage and carrots in the slow cooker last night
@ehBeth,
where does one get this peameal bacon?. Ive listened as set got all bleary eyed over its taste. I gotta try it to see if he knows what the hell hes talking about.
Oh yeh, peel and eat shrimp and coconut macaroons with rooibos tea
@farmerman,
I had cheese burger last night.
@farmerman,
I've never seen peameal bacon in the U.S.
You should be able to pick it up in Quebec.
It's a cured/pickled porkloin, rolled in cornmeal (though traditionally it was rolled in peameal).
the roast looks like this (nice and lean)
Come to Toronto - we'll take you to the St. Lawrence Market for a proper peameal on a bun.
It makes a great roast, is wonderful bbq'd, and is a <schlurp-drool> amazing fried bacon sandwich.
(hehehe - I just did a search on the site here - we sure do seem to drool about it)
@ehBeth,
Well, this seems to be a must eat thing. Is that Darwin exhibit still on in Tronowe?
@farmerman,
The Darwin exhibit headed out in August '08.
Currently at the ROM
the natural history galleries (always there)
Had a wonderful roast pork last night.
Piece of pork leg, about 2kg, skin scored and salted, blasted at high temperature for about half an hour and then down to moderate temperature. Wonderful lean meat, and crackling for those who like it. Gravy made with pan droppings.
Potatoes, butternut pumpkin, kumera, onion, zucchini - all roasted, and some apple sauce.
Followed by red fruit salad - watermelon, cherries and strawberries.
Leftovers tonight.
Cheddar bratwursts, on a bakery role, loaded with chimichurri. Baked potato, loaded. Salad, loaded.
@margo,
Wow, Margo, that all sounds fabulous.
Now to look up chimichurri..
Last night I had leftover rice/black bean/sauteed onion/mild ital sausage casserole. Yawn.
@ossobuco,
Found chimichurri -
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chimichurri-231384
Which puts me in the mood to make some parsley (etc) pesto.
@ossobuco,
Ham bone in pot.
On the sidelines: Three bags of split peas. four carrots, salt and pepper.
That is all I put into my pea soup. Anybody add anything else?
@alex240101,
I'm making good ol' hamburgers tonight. I stuff mine and hubs with bleu cheese. It's to die for. I bought frozen fries to make with it for the kids and a salad for me and hub. I think I will have spring mix lettuce with slivered almonds, cranraisins, bacon and a little green onion - I have some red-wine vinegar so I will make a little sweet red wine vinegrette. Wow. I'm hungry.
I have not had sugar in THREE days. Seriously. I am amazed. No candy, no pie, no cookies, no sugar in my coffee (blah - nasty) or gum or anything. It is a small miracle.
@mismi,
No sugar. No sugar?
Do not ask me what I am eating at this particular time........
I am trying to cut out sugar too, and it's soo hard, I'm practically a chocoholic,
so it's double hard.
Last night it got a bit chilly - well for Californian standards anyways, and so
we made chili. Tonight I'll try a new recipe: chicken with apricot marmelade
sauce.
@CalamityJane,
Good for you Jane - I am told I will feel better - I am waiting to see...
Something sweet I bet....
Chili sounds really good Jane - We might have that tomorrow night.
onions, celery, a teeny tiny amount of something sweet - maple syrup/molasses ... a teeny tiny amount - maybe a tsp or so in a big pot
@Dutchy,
