@ehBeth,
OMG what didn't I eat last night? Shocked

A group of 12 of us, who worked together in the early 90s, enjoy an annual get-together, just before Christmas. We all "bring a plate" (or 2, or more ..Rolling Eyes) to this gathering. Always way too much food! I am not going to go into ALL of the gory details, but suffice to say, the festivities had a Roman feast-ish sort of feel ... & I am still recovering ..... at almost 3 pm the day after. I got home at 2:45 am. Ooooooooh. Sad

Let me hasten to add, over-indulgence in booze is not the cause of my wooziness today. (What? With two half hour drives, there & back? No way! I'm not that silly!)

So dinner tonight?: Oooooooh. Don't ask! Even thinking of more food isnot a great idea right now! Laughing

@msolga,
msolga that sounded like a fantastic night you had, 2.45am is not that late for the 'young' lady that you are. Laughing

Tonight we'll have the first lobster my son sent me, we'll have it with fresh salads and dipping it in a special seafood sauce, consisting of a rich and creamy blend of whole mayonnaise and selected spices.

I noticed at the market yesterday, Lobster were retailing at $100.00 per kilo, our little fellow weighs in at 2kg, so that's going to be a mighty expensive meal. Smile

@Dutchy,
Hey Dutchy

It would be.. um .. less than polite to not enjoy the food others have cooked for you. And one wouldn't want to be rude, yes? Wink

My gosh, you live in sea food heaven, Dutchy.

$100.00 per kilo! Amazing.

Enjoy tonight!

Tonight, since it's Christmas Eve, I'll make baked salmon as I have the last several years. It's become a tradition. With it we'll have roasted asparagus and warm potato salad. Butternut squash soup will start things off. Dessert - Christmas cookies and coffee.

@Swimpy,
Salmon is always good and a light meal, not like us ! Very Happy
We are having a big Christmas dinner tonight, traditionally we serve
goose, red cabbage, dumplings, and vegetables. Appetizer is potato cake with
caviar, and as dessert we have poppyseed apples in filo dough, apple strudel, and homemade cookies. After that we probably all fall asleep....

@CalamityJane,
My sister always does a goose and red cabbage on Christmas Eve, too. She and her family lived in Germany for a while and picked up the tradition. I've never gotten the hang of cooking goose.

@Swimpy,
Set made very good potato carrot soup last night. Added more veggies tonight, as well as several turkey bratwursts. It was a delicious meal.

I had clementines for dessert.

That was lunch today.

Tater soup last night, French onion soup for lunch, tater soup tonight. There's starting to be a pattern.

@ehBeth,
repeat of last night's black bean/arborio rice/mild ital sausage/some tomato/sauteed onion/herbs and spices/casserole.. still delicious, have to remember to use mexican oregano and cumin and fresh cilantro and black pepper together again.
But I can't eat it for days at a time, so I saved some in fridge and the rest will haunt the freezer.

@Dutchy,
I'm going to have to look that up. Flapping apples sound interesting.

I bought some lamb chops for the first time in years and years. Wonder what I'll do with them.. probably something very simple.
