I think mumpad and msolga were about to face off at 10 paces with soup ladles.
Mumpad grugingly accepts your offer Msolga.

Lamb shoulder chops are on the menu tonight. Brussel sprouts and some type of potato as well. Checking out some recipes.
(OssoB - The Empress is the nickname Setanta gave my friend, based on her real-life name - given what she's like, it's a classic bit of cognitive dissonance)

We fired up the grill yesterday and had chicken, a chuck roast, potatoes and peppers and onions and corn on the cob. Yum.

Somewhere I've got a photo of The Empress behind her bowl of soup (you could serve 5 or 6 people from that bowl).
she's surprised every time she orders soup at the Noodle Bowl. you think we'd catch on. it's not really soup for one.

Yeah but sharing soup? Do they give you smaller satellite bowls? If not, YUCK!

They think that is a single serving of soup. It's the smallest size they offer. The table is set with 'satellite bowls' to begin with (standard practice for Chinese/Vietnamese restos here), but they seriously see that as 'soup for one' ... and given the low cost, we keep forgetting until a ginormo bowl arrives at the table.
The first time I went there, each of us ordered a bowl of soup as well as a satay or noodle dish. So we had three bowls of soup that size on the table + our meals. We just had them pack up the meals to take home.

we had big bowls of seafood chowder
started with sauteeing a giant diced onion and a half pound of mushrooms
threw in a handful of diced rosemary ham
then diced in about a pound of boiled potatoes
then a pound of tiny scallops
then we cheated - threw in two cans of ready-made clam chowder
then 2% milk to the right consistency
that was fantastic! (and fast)

Sounds good actually. Not the rosemary ham, but everything else too. Could you actually alter that recipe.

Leaka - I personally think that anything that starts with a potato soup base can be modified to the diner's preference - meat/no meat - varying herbs and spices.

Oh I'm sorry.
I look stupid now.
No I mean is there anyway to modify the herbs in it. Cause I generally don't like rosemary and what not.
