@ebrown p,
And I notice that scumbag left wingers like to compress names without capitals.

Why is that?

I also notice that they are too stupid to even try to respond when someone jams one of their precious left wing shibboleths down their throats.

Bigoted--definition--

A person who is UTTERLY intolerant of any CREED, BELIEF or race that is not his own.

Therefore, most of the left wing in the USA is BIGOTED.

They have shown themselves to be utterly intolerant of CREEDS AND BELIEFS that are not their own.

Re: OCCOM BILL (Post 3647705)
Occom Bill wrote:

A self respecting man, whose family was in dire need, might say something like, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! Funny how those words are widely respected, when the White Man said it; but God forbid the Brown Man feels the same way.

****************************************************************

a re-write

"a self respecting man, whose Moslem family was in dire need because their morals were being corrupted by the Great Satan and since the filth of their unGodly music and cinema were polluting the minds of the Islamic populace, give me liberty or give me death! Funny how those words are widely respected, when the Western man says it: but God forbid the Islamist feels the same way---That is why I am going to try to kill as many American Soldiers as I can when I blow myself up in the marketplace in Islamabad."

****************************************************************

OCCOM BILL, in his massive ignorance, does not realize that the Emergency Quota Act of 1921 set a statutory ceiling on immigration. It capped immigration from Europe at 357,000 a year. Some disagreed but it was the LAW!

How many (In Occom Bill's words) "self-respecting men wanted to move from place to place to find work and provide for his family".

They had to get on the quota list. That was the LAW!!

****************************************************************

I am amazed that there are still people who want to come to the USA. After the eight years of Bush's tenure and the unceasing drum beat by the left wing that our country was probably one of the most corrupt, socially confused and culturally bereft, I am amazed that anyone would still wish to come to the USA.

@OCCOM BILL,
I didnt say I agreed with those hypothetical laws.
I said that I would obey the law, and at the same time I would do whatever was legal to try and get the law changed.

What I said was that I would obey the law.

[A senator] has proposed an amendment to H.R. 627, the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights Act of 2009. This amendment would require the banks that issue credit cards to ensure that those granted credit cards are in the United States legally. Specifically, the amendment:

Grants rule making authority to the Federal Reserve to set forth minimum standard for credit card issuers to establish a consumer’s identity to prevent illegal aliens and terrorists from obtaining credit cards.

The regulations will verify the identity of any person seeking a credit card account, require the company to maintain records of the information used to verify the customer’s identity, and the company will consult lists of known or suspected terrorists or terrorist organizations provided by the appropriate government agency.

Acceptable forms of identification include: a social security card, driver’s license or identification card issued by a State that is in compliance with the Real ID Act, a passport (issued by either the U.S. or a foreign government) or a photo identification card issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Given that credit cards, like drivers licenses, allow illegal aliens to easily live in the United States, banks should be forced to verify that their potential credit card customers have the legal right to live in the United States. The risky lending habits practiced by banks (i.e., knowingly allowing illegal aliens to receive home mortgages) certainly contributed to today's economic crisis as illegal aliens can default on their loans (home or credit cards) more easily than any other group of people. Moreover, the passage of this amendment would encourage more states t o accept REAL ID standards, thereby making the United States more secure.

@Advocate,
When did owning a credit card become an exclusive right of being an American citizen, Advocate?

Is your next law going to dictate Walmart determine citizenship before they sell anything to anybody?

@Advocate,
I didn't think you would be such a fan of David Vitter (although the fact you blanked out his name is a little amusing).

This amendment has nothing to do with illegal immigration. This, in politics, is called a poison pill-- although I think this pathetic one will fail. Its purpose is to kill the Credit Card bill (and he thinks illegal immigrants will be a convenient wedge).

The Republicans are against consumer protections. They will use whatever tactic they can to obstruct the Democratic congress from enacting them.

Against some beliefs I've seen expressed here, this article:

Quote:
Biggest minority
Latinos and other minority workers contribute to keeping the Social Security system solvent, according to Monique Morrissey, an economist for the Economic Policy Institute. The undocumented workers among them often pay more into the Social Security pool than they will take out in benefits.

Morrissey said estimates of deficits in the pool's finances were reduced last year when a Social Security advisory board's technical panel revised some unrealistically low assumptions it had made about Latino immigration.

"They took into account people without papers [paying into Social Security] but not accessing funds from there," she said. "That's bad for workers but very good for Social Security."

State and county populations
The most Latino county in the nation was Los Angeles, with 4.7 million people. Latinos accounted for nearly half the population there and increased 67,000 during the 12 months ended July 1, the most of any county. The Rio Grande border county of Starr, Texas, has the highest proportion of Latino residents: 98%.

California leads all states in the number of Latinos, with a population of 13.5 million, an increase of 313,000 in just one year. New Mexico, appropriately, has the highest percentage of Latinos: 45%.

New York State has the greatest number of African-Americans - 3.5 million - while the District of Columbia and Mississippi have the highest percentages, at 56% and 38% respectively. In terms of counties, Cook County, Ill. (Chicago) leads all others with 1.4 million African Americans, while Claiborne County, Miss., had the highest percentage at 84%.

More than 5 million Asians live in California, more than in any other state; Hawaii has the highest percentage of Asians at 54%. It's the only majority-Asian state in the nation.

Los Angeles County is home to 12.4 million Asians, the most of any county. Honolulu, with 58%, had the highest proportion.

More Pacific Islanders (283,000) and native Americans (739,000) lived in California than any other state.

@Francis,
Francis - the study you cite (perhaps you would read it before citing it, though CNN's auteur on your link clearly didn't) states that the Social Security system receives annually $50 million (approximately) from employees whom it cannot identify.

That's less than the school systems spend on educating children of illegals EACH DAY. And that's before counting costs to hospitals, costs of combatting ID theft (fastest-growing-crime in the US) and so on ad nauseam, never mind the vast problems in other government programs facing cumulative accrued liabilities totalling several trillion dollars - that's trillions, not billions.

It would be nice to think that an "extra" $50 million annually would save the system, but by no stretch of actuarial dynamics (or even plain arithmetic) is it likely to happen Smile

... except you missed the real obvious fact.

Providing a good education for American citizens, who will go on to live productive (and tax-paying) lives, has always been a good thing for the country

@okie,
Okie - Francis is generally very careful with his research, there's just no way he would be familiar with our sad economic reality.

Btw, Berlusconi (PM of Italy) finally got tired of people crossing over to Italy from Africa in rickety boats and took to towing their boats back to Africa. Only the other day I saw the Coast Guard had to rescue lots of people attempting to sail to Florida from Haiti on some raft - apparently a daily occurence.

@High Seas,
helen, your commision of facts is belied by your omission of other facts, illegal aliens pay all kinds/types of taxes such as property (via rent) sales and numerous city/county/state/fed fees, not just social security. their payment of property taxes (just like everyone else) is what, in most districts, fund public schools.

the tea baggers seem to believe that 250,000 people across a nation of 300 million constitutes a popular rebellion. and obama is king george.

so it would seem that they favor a treasonous overthrow of the dutifully elected government of the united states.

No problem as long as legal entry is done, citizenship path is chosen, and everything is done above the radar, social security and income tax paid, all is peachy and wonderful, no problems, as it would be for all fellow citizens living here. Why anyone would oppose doing it legally is beyond me.

Fact is, however, many border hospitals, etc. are out of business or in trouble, and California is a good example of why it is going broke, with cost of educating, welfaring, and incarcerating illegals is in the billions, I think I saw 10 billion and posted it once. If illegals were bringing prosperity, California should be flying high.

I found this too:

Quote:
A study conducted by the National Research Council has shown that due to contributions by immigrants,
the total net benefit to the Social Security System will be nearly $500 billion.5 This is so because in order to
get jobs, many undocumented immigrants use false Social Security numbers. As a result they pay into the
Social Security system for benefits they will never receive.
