Well thanks for the art lesson dear....although the basis of my wondering was actually why someone would want to look at that silly looking picture of a muscle bound clod with his ass sticking out, holding on to some rusty thing with gears.

Nudity in men in pictures doesn't do it for me. Never has....

and what you said about seeing the human form in all its possibilities, perhaps you can take some lessons from me. I'm sure I've seen many more versions of what the human body has the possibility of becoming.

Youth and smooth skin is so short a time and fleeting, hardly worth noticing actually. The character of lines and wrinkles earned, and the consequences to a body of a life well lived is much more interesting and hold my eye much longer.

A while back was a thread of pictures being posted by women of handsome men.

One observation I made was that most of the young men had for the camera a look in their eye that was a complete turnoff....a look that says "I'm so sexy, I know you want me"

The ones that had a different look were much more interesting...their eyes said "YOU'RE so sexy, can't you see how I want you"

In other words, don't tell me how great you are, tell me how great I am.

Naked men = good. I like some more and some less, and some not at all (that'd be pretty extreme), but generally speaking, naked men = good.

Of the naked guys on display here, I probably like the Mapplethorpe (or Mapplethorp-ian, if it's not him) double portrait the best. Mermaid guy was nice, both because he was somewhat reasonably muscled if muscly, and because the froth/ foam was nicely placed. Cool

Metropolis guy is near the bottom (er...) mostly 'cause I don't like the looks of his face/ his expression -- too frat-boyish. But, again, naked men = good.

I'm impressed that you enjoy Mapplethorpe, his work is magnificent but many, many find it too controversial. But then again, I'm impressed but not surprised. :wink:

I also really like the other one you posted, Eryemil, with the two men form fitting each other. It's an interesting one. How can I say this without you squirming : they border on the masc/feminine. It could nearly be two athetic women (til I looked at the chest - too broad and flat).

Interestingly enough, none of the photos of women so far has done anything for me. They are too whitewashed and fake and ....just not my taste. I really like a woman with some character and not so overly-femme-femme.

I've had terrible luck.

Just went through a zillion pictures of Antonio Banderas (I know, cliche, but he IS gorgeous) to try to find a decent naked one, nuffink. Now I'm on my 19th page of a Google image search for "male nude", lots of naked men = good, nothing particularly inspiring. There are a lot of variations of chiaroscuro muscles, which are OK (like this):

And a lot of faces hidden, which is kind of a weird theme, but nothing that ties everything together in a way that makes me go especially OOH or that I'd want to point to as a paragon of what I find attractive.
