@plainoldme,
Thanks, that was certainly part of the formation (more the stuff before the first freeway, re Huntington et al, but in some ways, it was set up in the 1880's).

On boisterous, that wasn't a knock, I just felt myself interrupting, but was curious re the meaning of the word. I was guessing something like that - I could say, for example, the new yorkation, about the actions of Robert Moses with similar import. (He's been semi revived re repute; I remain primed on Jane Jacobs though I suppose not entirely). But the sociology class might have meant something else, thus my question.

Who shall the Leftist Liberals blame after Barack Obama finishes dismantling the US economy?

How do the members of the Leftist Liberals plan to handle the consequences to them of Obama finishing the dismantling the US economy?

If Bush is responsible for the depression then Obama is responsible for rising gas prices.

Here is a cold hard reality: We're past peak oil. Gas prices will never go down. They will only continue to rise. People need to understand that oil is only going to get more expensive. The only way to keep oil cheap is to do some pretty fucked up **** to some brown people somewhere far away (if you give a damn). You are upset about the price of oil going up (something it's going to do anyway), and you wish that someone else was in Obama's place to make poor choices so you can save some on gas money.

Between collusion on the part of the produces and subjecting the market to extensive influence on the part of speculators there is no way to keep oil cheap....

@JTT,
Good observation.

There is a fallacy in Dubois' comment: he posits that there are no right-wing government workers. Fully one-third of all teachers are Republicans.

@ossobuco,
I wish I had the time to read what I want to read. I have had Moses and Jacobs at the back of mind for about two years now, ever since someone on Salon did a piece on their legacies.

@failures art,
Thanks for talking sense to the newest . . . right-wing bully? sock puppet?

There is something familiar about his tone. I am trying to remember the nom d'email . . . James Morrison, perhaps?

No Frontrunner in Slow-Starting GOP Race

Quote:
Nearly half (47%) of registered voters say they would like to see Barack Obama reelected, while 37% say they would prefer to see a Republican candidate win the 2012 election, according to the survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press conducted March 8-14 among 1,525 adults. In April 2003, 48% of registered voters said they would like to see Bush reelected in 2004; 34% said they would prefer to see a Democrat win.

@revelette,
There's also an interesting article in today's San Jose Mercury News about the shift of California politics where the once white majority republicans now represents about 40% of the state's voters taken over by democrat swinging Hispanic and Asians. The reason is the GOPs push for "stridency on taxes," illegal immigration, their advocacy for discriminating against gays and lesbians, their push to destroy unions, and right to life, are aging white people's politics. The republican's chances to win in California gets smaller every year.

San Jose Mercury News is really good at concocting fictional news stories for the extreme left.
