Ok, so what does McGentrix think about Obama?
Well, first of all, I don't consider him a socialist, marxist, facist, or any other *ist. He is quite liberal in his politics, but that really isn't a shock and shouldn't be shocking to anyone that paid any attention to him during the campaign at all.
I do not like the amount of money he is proposing to spend. But, I am willing to wait and see what the results of that spending will be. If it results in creating a better economy and gets people working again, then it will have been a great idea. If it doesn't then we will have a new office holder in 4 years. One of the thing I like about our system is that we get to choose new leadership once in awhile.
I think he is a little too dependent on advisers, not that I expect him to be an expert on every thing that he has on his plate, but I do not like the political leanings of his advisers. While he may not be wanting to change America into a big government run socialist utopia, I believe many of his advisers do.
I do not like the fact that many of his cabinet posts remain unfilled and that many of his choices thus far have not been the best person for the job. I do like the fact that some of appointees are not Washington insiders. Fresh looks at some of the issues is good.
I would like his foreign policy to be a bit tougher then it has been thus far. Some of the countries around the globe need to know that they do not have a 4 year reign of terror to get their **** done. They must know that America will remain a strong deterrent to their actions and that we will, when necessary, step in and take control.
Obama has a lot on his plate. I am willing to give him time to work on whittling it down, but he needs to make a priorities list and get his people working on it. I still like him as a man and respect him as President. I just don't agree with much of what he has done so far. Not that I have any better ideas.
@McGentrix,
That sounded pretty reasonable.
I actually do like most of what he's done so far, but am a bit annoyed by some of the remaining pork-spending. Still, it's hard to know how to solve many of our economic problems and how to tread the political waters to get anything done, and I don't have any better ideas.

This is exactly how I feel about it. I hate all the bailing out we've been doing, but the barn door is open now and all we can do is wait and see.
Thanks for your take.
Only history will be able to tell what a great role model he had been for those children being raised by grandmothers in Hawaii.

Such as...?
Commerce and health and human services. Have those been filled yet?
the void at theDept of H & HS was filled in sprightly fashion...perhaps due to the flu epidemic

All cabinet-level positions have been filled.
The Cabinet.
oh good. Maybe that means I don't have to worry about anymore pedantic responses from Joefromchicago.

Does anyone really care?

I guess you are also willing to wait and see if your cousin's plan to spend all of his personal wealth on lottery tickets pans out.
And if it works out and he becomes a multi-milionaire then it will be a
great idea.
You get to have your opinion. Mine is that you are remarkably wrong, Obama is a harcore leftist. With time we will see who was right.
He's not the anti-Christ and only a fool would wish our country to fail so badly that he gets thrown out of office, but there is nothing wrong with reaching the conclusion that his policies will not make things better; but worse.
Odd you should start this thread. I was just wondering what your view on Obama was. Talk about serendipity!
I know, right? I mean it's like you guys were all on the edge of your seats and just, BOOM! There it was! McG's introspective of Obama and you were all like, "Wow!"
@McGentrix,
My voting slogan for 2012:
ABO-Anybody but Obama.

"
ABC" worked with Carter in the 1980 election, but focus groups reactions to "
ABO" (as per political consultants) was way negative. Seems that
"Abo" is used as an abbreviation for
"aboriginal" in many countries and even though few here have heard of it someone is sure to decide it's racist:
@JoeBruno,
There's a shocker.
I'm guessing that was your slogan in 2008, as well.
