@nimh,
Aw come on Man. Pull yourself together. Folks are dying all over the place. Thousands of kids in the Congo are up for it shortly they say. Maybe Mr Tolbert (RIP) fed himself the rich food.

Where would we all park our butts if folks didn't cark it?

And those black guys sobbing in bf's post is just daft.

@spendius,
you'd probably be better off saying nothing than revealing such a meansptited ignorance. Or is not ignorance and just meanspirited

A pretty good opinion from the U.K., the following an excerpt:

"So, in one of those bizarre jokes that history sometimes plays, the United States is apparently about to choose as president the most inexperienced, untried and virtually unknowable (because there is so little to know) candidate who has ever run for that office at a time of unquantifiable international risk and unprecedented economic instability: a candidate who, as Bill Clinton revealed in a wonderfully back-handed "tribute", responded to the banking collapse by ringing every expert he could find (including Bill) to ask them what he should be saying."

@okie,
OMG, How dare we elect a president that actually talks to experts in a crisis?

Why don't we elect someone that just acts on their gut feelings? That should do wonders for the US.

@okie,
AKA asking them for advice.

I saw your name as the most recent post here and thought "hey I wonder if that's okie offering congratulations... that'd be classy."

Not so much. Ah well.

So consulting every expert you can find when faced with a crisis is supposed to be a bad thing?

Well, no not exactly congratulations. I can understand the feeling of winning, so sure, have your day in the sun and enjoy it. Tomorrow or the next day, however, reality sets in again, hopefully, at least for some of us.

And none of my complaints, warnings, or concerns, go away. I always try to be an optimist, in trying to find a silver lining to a dark cloud, but I see lots of dark clouds. The silver lining is maybe people like snood will finally feel "validated." I am happy for them, but I find that a sad commentary that anyone needs to be validated by a president's skin color. I am the same guy here, whether McCain wins or whether Obama wins. And I would caution all the snoods out there that if Obama truly bombs out, perhaps as Jimmy Carter II, it is not going to validate him very well, if thats the type of validation being sought. That is why my argument was always placing race way way down the list of qualifications, and really should not even be a qualification at all.

Anyway, sozobe, thanks for the courtesy you display on this forum, that much is appreciated. I can't say the same for a few other libs. Just don't expect us to go away and not point out all the mistakes that will be made by the Democrats. And if our rights are threatened, we will not go away easily. I expect some pretty bad stuff coming down the pike, so the story does not end tonight.

And remember libs, if you wake up some day and realize this was all a huge mistake, this man is not what we thought he was, have the honor to admit it. This will not be the last election, .....hopefully.

You can remove the question mark now. It looks as if he might indeed have a chance. Good job!

Huh? Say again, Thomas? Are they already crowning the guy king in 2008 before he has to even make one lousy decision about anything? Do you realize he has yet to make one decison worthy of any historical footnote, whatsoever?

@okie,
The "good job" was directed at Sozobe -- for discovering before the rest of us that he was a viable candidate. That was a good job -- and your acting like a sore loser isn't going to change it.

You are wrong again, Okie. He decided to run for president. He won. That is an enormous historical footnote in history, not only for our country but for the world.

You'll probably be wrong yet again when President Barack Obama disappoints your expectations of failure.

@okie,
If we wake up some day and find out that Obama isnt cutting it. WE FIRE HIM, just as we fired the entire Bush regime and its intended successor regime.
The beauty of the US is that we go and reinvent ourselves constantly.

Im just jealous of the kds whove turned 21 in this election and had their first opportunity to have been part of such a major change in the countrys direction.
