Right, but she did know that something intense was going on in Ade's life. I really think that deep down, she knows.

Maybe she believes that Adriana got tired of Christopher? Maybe his sobriety was a drag?

I'd like some opinions on why Gene hanged himself...

He felt trapped because he didn't want to continue working for Tony and wanted to move to Fl and retire with his family with his inheritance.

I can understand him commiting suicide has he was both unhappy and more importantly, loved his family so much he knew this was a way to free them so they could move on with their lives.

but...hanging himself? His wife or one of his children would find them.

Wouldn't it have been better for him to do it in such a way that it looked like an accident? That way, even though his family would grieve, they wouldn't have to deal with the trauma of finding him, and knowing he killed himself. He could have crashed his car or something.

So youre saying that the wedding is off? This isnt the last season, next years is. I believe Stevie van Zandt has some newer commitments with E STreet and he will probably depart as consiglieri.

Well, he was an informant also, like Adriana, and knew that if he couldn't get away with his family to Florida then, sooner or later, he was be a dead man. The feds had him trapped and he knew what was going to happen to him eventually so this way, at least, his family would get the inheritance and could walk away. The hanging was horrible and just, IMO, big drama for the viewers. More dramatic than crashing his car into a tree.

That's true eoe...

You know, he was really cute.

He said to his wife at one point about him being a 47 year old man, and his dad died at 53, so who knew how long he had.

I said out out..."Wow, he's REALLY hot for 47."

Just my type.

He was making a statement, both to Tony and to his wife. To Tony, he was saying he'd rather be dead than continue in this life. To his wife, he was making the ultimate sacrifice; my life for yours.

Not to mention, as eoe stated, he knew he was literally a walking dead man. He took the control and killed himself before Tony could.

I don't think Gene was a big player in any of the seasons, so far as I can remember. In fact, I was kind of like, who the hell is that?

I think it was the opposite. I think she was enjoying his sobriety, since he was such a **** when he was high.

I am convinced that Carmela at the very least suspects what happened because she knew Adriana was in some sort of trouble. And she knows Tony. And Chris never really questioned where she'd gone or why.

I think the whole Gene thing is foreshadowing the results of the FBI investigation. I suspect Tony's going to be indicted.

Yeah, it's all gonna go down.

Oh man, I was just as pissed as carmela was at her father. Using pine instead of whatever, that's gonna cost time and money.

Tonight's episode was just wonderful.

What a creative exploration of the issue of identity. The episode took my breath away when it ended. And the acting, all around, was just wonderful. It's always good, but tonight it was sensational. Edie Falco should start making room on her mantel for another Emmy.

Whether Tony lives or dies, or persists in a vegetative state, is almost irrelevant to me right now. I'm just anxious to see how the writers will continue to explore, and start to wrap up, all the various themes which have been raised over the years.

Death, and mortality, has always been treated so casually on this show--it's generally simply been part of the business these people are in. But now issues of real powerlessness and vulnerability are being explored, the true existential terrors, and they aren't just being looked at in the safe quiet confines of Dr Melfi's office, they are actually being played out in Tony's comatose dreams. And, what a different Tony we are getting to see as he hangs in limbo.

This was so good, on so many levels, I am only sorry I have to wait for next week to see more. This season is just fantastic.

Les just say Tony is now merely the center of the series as an object whose changing state week to week may usher in different dynamics among the members of the Family. I figgered that there would be major cast reorganizations this being the penultimate year, and the signsof a power struggle are already begining to happen.
Its a clever way to move **** around, I hope theyre not Phuckin with us too much.
I wonder if Tony could be in these dream sequences all season.

Does AJ become part of the Family?

He was trapped between his bosses who wouldn't let him quite and his wife who kpet harping on him to do so and wouldn't accept any compromise. There's also the fact that the government had turned him into a snitch.

If they did ever get stuck with this screw-up, that would probably be the final death knell for the mob? Laughing
Threatening to shoot a senile old man, hardly means A.J. is ready to be a wise guy, although it does show that he has absorbed some of the "family" values. I would imagine that his mother would kill him first before letting him become a member of the mob.

Does anyone see A.J. heading for a rehab or hospital?

When Tony/Kevin was on the phone with his wife in the dream sequence, I thought the women's voices sounded different with each call--perhaps representing the different women in his past. One voice sounded like Carmela, but one sounded like Gloria (the car salesperson he had an affair with). Did anyone else think the women's voices sounded different?

Well, yes Brandon, I understand WHY he killed himself, I was just wondering about the HOW. Reread my last 3 short paragraphs please. However, that's all water under the bridge now.

As far as AJ?
He's such a dunce, if he tries to do anything to Uncle Jun, he'd be quickly caught.
