The last two times Louis has ventured outside he's returned with an injury. First one rear leg, not too bad, then the other, a bit worse. No visible scratches or blood, just limping, and sensitive to touch - hiiiissssssssssssssss.

So he's staying in the house for a while whether he likes it or not. He was born outside, and prefers it over the house unless it's raining or really cold. Puts up a big fuss if you don't let him out.

And why is it we have cats for pets? These animals can be a gigantic pain in the patoot. We're all gluttons for punishment.

I'm asking myself that

I had to leave very early for the coast this morning to deliver some paintings to a gallery - himself shouted upstairs to stop Paddy as he'd raced in from outside with a mouse

Of course as soon as I headed for him he dived under the bed with it Rolling Eyes

I think it was dead

I hope it was dead Shocked

He was locked in all day so if it wasn't dead then it had just better be now ..... but where's the body????

A pain in the derriers definitely Evil or Very Mad

This is weird, right?

Now that Miranda is alone, I can leave out stuff like roast chicken, but I have to hide the dental floss.

Shocked

Don't know if that's weird. I can leave food out with Mikey in the house. Couldn't with Miranda. Bit I can't sleep with my feet exposed. He starts by rubbing his head on the bottom of my feet. Then he starts nibbling on them. The head rubbing feels funny. The nibbling I can do without. So I always have to keep my feet covered. But any food, no matter how tempting, will remain untouched.

Come to think of it, this is weird.

I wasn't certain at the time Roberta - cos the previous one had played Possum and scooted under the bookcase the minute I took my eyes of it to call himself to deal with the carcase!

But yes - himself had the joy of finding half a mouse on the floor on his side of the bed when he got home Twisted Evil no sign of the rest so we assume he ate it Shocked

Want a little black monster cat?? I'll ship him!

He woke us at 5am today ...... purrrr purrr purrr trample miaow purrr - I'm sure you'd learn to live with it Twisted Evil

I gave up and got up at 6 - I've got to be at the exhibition all weekend so it gives me time to chill and get ready slowly. We hung the paintings yesterday (it's a group of 8 friends - 7+me) and having had to finish off paintings for the gallery show and deliver them 100 miles away as well this week I'm exhausted!

I wish you the best with the show, Vivien. And as for the half a mouse, in a woid, feh. Still, for me, better than a live one running around. Mice are one of my many insanities. They're why I originally got a cat.

Admit it, Vivien, you love it!
Think how dull life would be minus all the black terror's hi jinx! Very Happy
(I won't comment on the half-eaten mouse right now.)

Good luck with your exhibition!

I got home tonight an hour & a bit late. (A meeting at work had gone on & on & on...) Lost my car space & had to park on the other side of the road. When I opened the car door I could hear this incredible, almighty yowl! I was late & Poppy was making her dissatisfaction known to the whole neighbourhood! She was sitting on the footpath outside the house, having heard my car engine. (She's an expert. Can hear me coming from miles away, it seems!) Neighbours were craning their necks over their fences to see what cause of the racket was. It was loud, I tell you! OK, so I rushed into the house at break-neck speed (anything to get her off the street! Embarrassed ) & discover the cause of her distress: she was starving! She'd refused to eat any of her dried food (left at breakfast)! She'd been hanging out for hours for her favourite fix! Honestly! Rolling Eyes

I can just picture you scurrying after being put in your place msolga!

Paddy is still on offer - any takers?

so's Rosie - I wondered why my phone hadn't rung (my mother usually rings after shows etc to check how things went) and when I picked it up - no dial tone

I remembered repeatedly telling Rosie off for bopping the wire from the wall - checked it - yes - she's been chewing it and so the extension cable is dead Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad I'll have to make sure I unplug the modem when I've finished online as it's stretched across a doorway and himself is bound to fall over it Rolling Eyes

The show went well and I sold a couple - it was just a little show with friends in a village hall.

I don't know how the one at the coast is doing - fingers tightly crossed for that one as it's a nice gallery.

Vivien, Congrats on the little show. Fingers crossed for the big show. So Rosie chewed your phone wire. How destructive of her. I hope she found it delicious.

msolga, So Poppy doesn't view dry food as victuals. Let that be a lesson to you.

Both your posts remind me of Miranda. If I put out food for Miranda that she didn't like, she considered herself unfed. She was hungry and let me know it. Miranda wasn't a chewer, but she was a destroyer. A sofa, a swivel rocking chair, a stereo, some knickknacks, and parts of my wardrobe. Mikey is, well, a pussycat compared to her. He eats what I give him. And he's working on shredding two easy chairs, but they are still alive. He focuses his destructive attention on my skin. Sigh.

Tell me again why we love our cats. Don't bother. I know why. And, yes, I love dat little fuzzy guy.

He's such a ravishing beauty! So full of life & fun! Very Happy

(But I doubt that Himself would be too delighted at the prospect of losing Paddy to the wilds of the antipodes! )

Laughing

This morning Rosie has found a new nest - under a pile of bubble wrap and bags lying in a heap after I'd unwrapped the paintings. So now I have an excuse for not tidying them away!

sssshhhh! I won't tell himself, I'll just wrap Paddy up and post him off Twisted Evil He was out all night again so I don't know how many deceased mice there are out there Rolling Eyes

I found a toy Miranda will play with!!!

A kid made a feather and pipe cleaner contraption for me yesterday.

I brought it home.

No play.

I tied a piece of dental floss (with which Miranda is obsessed) to it, and voila! Play broke out!

Laughing I can picture that, Deb.

Our cats play soccer with crumpled up paper balls. If there's only one around, he'll play with it for a while and then bring it back for a game of fetch.

Dog-cats, I tell you, these guys are dog-cats.
