changed his wicked ways ??? no way!

The night before I went away for a week he brought a mouse in - I thought it was dead as it just lay still and so called himself to dispose of it (feminism doesn't extend to dealing with corpses!) - I turned back - no mouse and across the room a tail disappearing under the bookcase Evil or Very Mad

Himself hasn't seen mouse or corpse while I've been away so we don't know if it died or scooted out of the open door at some point back into the garden.

He's doing really well, his limp isn't too bad and he seems pain free and can run and climb as well as before. The vet was happy with him and so he doesn't need an operation Very Happy .

Rosie was soooo pleased to see me back. Himself said she was out in the garden and he hadn't seen her for hours and she hadn't come when he called. I went and called and she came flying Very Happy

How are you doing with the heating problems? is she any better with it yet?

Hi All,

Sorry for the absence. I've been a bit busy and distracted lately. I'll try to show up more regularly.

A mouse, Vivien! They make me noivous.

Mikey appears to becoming demented. (Hard to tell with him, but even by Mikey standards, his behavior is strange.)

No money to get him checked out. I'll just have to take protective measures and hope he snaps out of this.

Hope all is well you you guys.

That sux - the whole thing about wanting to get a doc to check your pets out, but can't afford it. I go through that too.

I'm sorry to hear this, Roberta. You mean he's becoming even more aggressive? I hope he snaps out of it (quickly!), too. You've got enough on your plate right now.

WELL! I thought he might have learned the thing or two after his last, very serious mishap, Vivien! I do hope, for your sake, that he stays out of trouble, though .... <sigh> Boy cats! Confused Rosie would never get herself into such strife. She's a good girl!

Do Paddy & Himself still indulge in their nightly promenade? I can just picture them: a man & his cat enjoy a peaceful moment!Very Happy

Poppy & the duct heating saga? She won the battle, I'm afraid! Rolling Eyes I just got used to the idea of BIG bursts of heat while she was checking out the great outdoors, then wearing big, woolly jumpers, later!

I haven't been here in quite a while, but I have a favour to ask. We have a new member who has a cat recently diagnosed with diabetes. She's struggling with the financial, ethical and loving distress of this. Just in case you miss the thread, I thought I'd link it here:

Anyone want a diabetic cat?

I made the mistake of bringing up euthanasia, which in hindsight I don't think is what she needed to hear right now. If you have any experience or knowledge of this situation, please help her.

Olga, querida. Yes, more aggressive. Hard to believe but true. It comes and goes.

It may be a result of my being neglectful and distracted, but quien sabe? I'm worried about him--and me.

Hmmm, has he been checked for diabetes? (I'm on a renewed diabetes kick). Do you notice him drinking and peeing way more than normal?

Top o the mornin' to ya.

Taking both my cats to be neutered on Monday, poor things are blissfully unaware. Can't seem to get rid of their fleas though. I used that Frontline stuff that goes on the back of their necks but within a week the fleas were back. Any better suggestions?

oh dear msolga - I can just picture you in and out of layers of woolly jumpers! Girl cats have their own problems! .... and Rosie a good girl? with her bed language Shocked she'd make a docker blush!

Both of my daughters have much less complicated and more cuddly-all-the-time cats.

No himself and Paddy aren't promenading at the moment as the door to the garden is permanently open in this nice weather (when we are at home) and so he comes and goes as he pleases - he enjoyed the company on walks in the winter when he didn't stay out so long. They did look funny Very Happy

Roberta sorry to hear about the problems with Mikey, aren't there any animal charity vets there? we have the PDSA (Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals) for those who can't afford expensive vets fees, you just donate what you can I believe. Vets bills certainly are scary as we've just found out to our cost with Paddy. At least he doesn't need the op that would have been about another £300 - over $600.

Have you tried excluding things from his diet one by one to see if anything there is a trigger?

As you say, it could be pure attention seeking.

I hope you are doing well.

I don't know anything about diabetes I'm afraid Tico

I have this hunch, Roberta, querida (I like that! Very Happy ), that it could well be an attention thing. Apart from rushing about doing all you have to do right now, you've probably been very preoccupied at home, too. Hell I certainly would be in similar circumstances! I'm hoping that it's this & he settles down a bit as things become a bit less difficult for you. But it does sound worrying. And you don't need this right now, dammit!

The only thing I can suggest, Dorothy, is to thoroughly fumigate their living quarters (where they sleep & hang out in the the house!) as well as using the Frontline. This is the advice Dr Hew Werth, (RSPCA vet extraordinaire!) always gives folk who ask similar questions on his radio talkback sessions on the ABC.: Treat the cats & treat their environment at the same time.
Good luck for Monday!

Yes, tonight I'm dressed fit for the Antarctic, Vivien! Damn that heater-phobic girl cat!
Rosie has bad bed language? I'm shocked & very, very surprised by this! Does this happen when she is forced to move over a bit, to make way for humans?

My vet gave me some tablets for them to take that killed any flea eggs or larvae from the inside out (guess it exudes something through my boys' skin). That, along with the external treatment (like Frontline) has handled my boys' fleas well.

Hi, Tico. Nice to see you again. Very Happy
I'm sorry, I know next to nothing about diabetes & cats. The very best of luck to your friend. I'll check out your thread.

because of her heavy coat of fur, which serves her well
for the outdoors in winter, Nekochan has shed wholesale.

At the onset of hot weather, I've been getting fistfuls
of cathair during 3x-daily five minute sessions.
Compare her appearance -
As of the beginning of July:

As of now, with more loose fur yet to go:

P.S. : She reminds me in a clearly understood manner (a painful cuff to the ankle) when she's ready for the grooming salon.

She's so adorable.

Thanks for posting those photographs.

(ps ... how old is Nechochan now? I know she's not a young thing, though she's an absolute beauty!)
