No ma'am, you didn't miss a thread ~ although I should probably move this to another one, but anyway.....

About a month ago I started getting lower back pains and after a week it got so bad I had to have my aunt drive me to the emergency room. They sent me home with pain meds and three days bed rest. Not a single x-ray was taken. Rolling Eyes

I had to wait another week to see the ortheopedic my Mom works for and he was livid when he saw the x-ray he had taken. If the doctor who had seen me at the hospital had been standing there, Dr. Helmy probably would have killed him. Evil or Very Mad

And now you're up to date! Very Happy

At least you got three days in bed out of it! Laughing

Seriously...any idea how you got a compression fracture in the first place?

Three days in bed would have been fine had I been able to sleep or get comfortable.....

Absolutely no idea how the fracture occured. Osteoporosis was mentioned, but no one thinks it's plausible since I'm only forty. We'll know more after I have the bone scan and bone density tests done.

That's all I can tell you right now.

Sorry, bad joke, I guess. I have back problems, too. Not bad enough that I can't get comfortable in bed, though. It's when I get OUT of bed that's the problem!

Let us know what they say after your tests, okay? (When are they scheduled?)

I've just returned from 10 days in Far North Queensland (Barrier Reef and surrounds) and Kakadu National Park.

His Possum-ship was greatly unamused when someone he didn't even know very well came to look after him for the time I was away - and she smelled of dogs!

Definitely a "not-happy-Jan" moment when we got back yesterday - but it settled as the day progressed. He did manage to drag himself in to sleep on my bed, and patted my face to wake me up at 5am.

fun!??

Travelling with an 80+ dementing aunt is not quite my definition of fun Confused

She wanted to see these places while she could still get about - but fun..... NO.

The Reef and Daintree areas are always interesting - and Kakadu was fascinating - I'd never been there before. So, it wasn't all bad news - but it was hard work.

And I've come back with a stinking cold- so that means a day off work. I'm on line trying to buy cricket tickets for the Ashes test in Sydney next January - but the website is too busy to handle all comers Confused Filling in time here between attempts.

mmm yes, maybe not fun! a member of our little artists group has definitely got the beginnings of dementia - memory loss that is very very bad, which she realises and paranoid ideas that she doesn't Sad. The paranoia is the hardest to cope with.

Good luck with the cricket tickets.

Thanks, Deb - I really needed a drink - but wasn't quite game, while I was away. Alcohol does have an effect on the inhibition gate!

and no luck with the bloody cricket tickets, either - a friend and I spent hours in-line - but zero success!

Pity - wanted to be out there to see those Poms clobbered!

Bone density test scheduled for June 7th. Will pass on the results.

Stanley and Lacey are being forced into cohabitating in my room ~ or wherever I happen to be in the house. The ten year old child was given responsibility of Stanley when he came to us and she's doing a very poor job of it. Sad Crying or Very sad

Had to put my foot down last night when I heard Stanley crying because he'd been shut in the child's room while she was in her brother's room playing video games. Granted his food and water were in there, but he doesn't like to be alone. What cat does? So, I released him and he went straight to my pillow and that's how we slept most of the night. Lacey was curled up against my back as usual. Laughing

Moving forward, he has access to Lacey and me 24/7. We'll see what happens when moving time comes round. Rolling Eyes

Uh oh. Another cat has taken a liking to Rae.

Oh, and Rae, one of our more or less feral yard cats at work has turned out to be named Buddy. So, two of the eight + have come up with names. Doesn't look a bit like your Buddy, of course.

My "Paddy" is sensing something is going on ... but he doesn't know yet that we're moving come June 15th, and it will be to his advantage. He will be king of the second floor condo. and I think he's gonna like it:)

You're moving, Misty? Don't forget to tell us where we can find you! We are planning to come to Florida next year in spring.

Nisse and Mysan are fine, a bit bored at the moment and complaining about that. But it's two in the morning! Come on, I gotta go to bed! Good night, y'all!

Roger, I love your new avatar! Eyore is one of my favorite characters.....I'm partial to Tigger though. TI double Grrrrr!

Thank you for mentioning that yet another cat has taken to me. I don't know how I do it. Same with kids ~ doesn't matter what age they are, they gravitate towards me. I'd like to say 'much to my dismay', but it's cute now because I can spoil them and give them back to their parents! And I am definetely not a kid person ~ I do everything in my power to make them leave me alone, but still they come.

I'm surprised that you mentioned the name 'Buddy'. If I've ever mentioned my cat, Buddy, I don't remember it. Buddy #1 died a horrible death from eating a poisonous lizard. Buddy #2 died of old age ~ and it took my son two months to tell me it had happened.

Lacey, though, has become the cat of all cats in my life. She's moved with me twice and her dedication to me, during everything, has grown rather than her becoming complacent. She is the best cat in the world. And I tell her that every day. She understands it, too. Some of the best conversations of my life have been with her and I swear she can bring me out of any mood just by listening to me talk.

Kinda hard to not come down to earth with a cat.

Ursula ~ I'm so happy to have heard from you! Of course I will let you know what happens with my back ~ I actually had a good day today by alternating the daytime brace and the nightime brace ~ even wore both for a good bit even though my Mom doesn't believe me.

Face it, Mom ~ you don't believe me. And that's okay. But the pain I'm in isn't something to joke about. A compression fracture ~ that has become inoperable because of a bone fragment making its way into the fracture. I'm in pain and I'm at a loss. Because no one believes the pain I'm in.....because they've never experienced it.

I can't even clean my own house, can't do laundry, can barely make my bed, but I manage that. It's pretty sad when you can't clean your own house.

Anyway.....enough of the sad stuff.....I have two kitties who are waiting for me to come to bed and cuddle.

Lacey and Stanley. Remember those names.

See ya'll tomorrow!

Rae
