Big Puss and Mini Puss, having knocked everything around onto the floor to their liking, take some morning sun.

Big Puss has this thing where in the am when Iget up he starts mewing loudly and tries to lead me to the kitchen behaving as though he's in panic mode. He then will begin eating from his bowl even if it's full of food. I put some out every night before bed. It's as though he's saying "Thank God you're awake and I can eat. I was afraid I'd starve and I can't eat unless you walk in the kitchen first". Mini is unconcerned. Is this some sort of learned behavior do you think ? I rescued him when he was 2 so who knows what made him develop this habit?

@blueveinedthrobber,
That's interesting. We lost our cat a couple of years ago (old age), but she didn't have that particular quirk. Our dog, however, does! (He's a rescue, also). Matter of fact, he won't eat unless we're in the room and talking to him. If we stop talking, he stops eating lol. Mr.Irish insists on explaining that to the kennel where we board him when we travel. He always gets the same strange looks from the kennel personnel LOL.

My cats, most of whom were abandoned, always act as if they are starving. When I bring their food out it's like a mad dash and they won't survive if they don't get there first. They are all fat and healthy but this is something that just seems to stick with them. The stray dogs I have are the same. Maybe for mine it was they were neglected and hungry once and it's a fear in them. I don't know. Cats have amazing personalities and they develop routines. Patches, my blind cat, knows I get ready for work and then I feed the animals. She tries every single morning to get me to change my routine. I don't know why though.

@blueveinedthrobber,
I think Puss saw a re-run of "Lonely Guy" at some point when you fell asleep with TV on Comedy Central. That whole 'table for one' scene seems to have hit home.

You know Moosh loves Animal Planets "Funny Animal Videos." She sits through the whole 30 minute episode at full attention every morning. When it is over, she leaves the room.

Given that, I don't think Puss having a Steve Martin complex is that far fetched.

@Izzie,
I have such a hard time taking a picture of my black cat. Your pictures are so beautiful! I love the one with the mustache peeking out from the chair.

@margo,
Izzie should market the cardboard box idea to Ikea as furniture for cats.

Beautiful cats and some lovely shots! Very Happy

You know, that is actually a good idea and I have to wonder why no one has done it by now.

I have a cat question and I'm serious.

when my cats, particularly Big Puss, uses the litter box, it smells like what I magint the latrine in Hell smells like and it lingers forever, even after I scoop and flush immediately. I've tried a couple different foods but MAN!!! It's practically unbearable.

Imagine the worst dog fart ever. Now take that to the 100th degree, and you'll get an idea.
