@Olivier5,
That may be the most positive, hopeful thing I’ve read in a while. Thanks, Olivier.

@snood,
You're most welcome, Snood. It wasn't meant to be cheerful, anyway. :-)

Love is a very selfish impulse/instinct we have. Love's apparent altruistic behaviour is just a strategy to win the object of your affection and satisfy your personal need to be happy. A wonderful nature's invention. Good for the individual and better still for the species.

Love is a feeling, and like all feelings we have no control over its comings and the goings...but make no mistake on this...Love is insanity.

I have always been willing to bet what ever I have in my pot for love, and I sometimes have, and I dont regret doing so....but make no mistake on this point MOTHER FUCKERS, love is insanity!

I am ******* pissed...when me and my pals were playing up and down Kentucky Dr Rockford Il late 60's early 70's we never dreamed that there was a possibility that America would get this bad on our watch.

This is a shocking development!

@Violet Lake,
Surely, a lot of scientists believe that love is biologycal process but in my view of point, love means something unbelievable and something that we can't see but we can feel it. Love is not only between men or women. We can love our familly ( mother, father, daughter, son etc.). So, I am sure that love is deeper than human reproduction.

@Violet Lake,
I think that varies from person to person. For ME, it is (was) meeting the one that you live easily and well with. Sharing common thoughts and morals. Trust that comes naturally. That's my definition. To add...I am an atheist, so no "god" affects my feelings.

Love is giving without expecting anything back and feel happy to talk and be beside that person. (In case of a boy friend and girlfriend)

@maxdog,
...not so sure about that. In the very least one gets back the pleasure of being in love...so you always get something.

@Fil Albuquerque,

@maxdog,
I know what you meant...but has I've grown older I come to analyze things more carefully...there are no free meals in this Universe. A person in Love gives and keeps giving because is set on a war to conquest the object of his affection...and even if one argues that there is really nothing to gain back, as I said, in the very least, there is the pleasure of being inundated with dopamine...you want to be with the person, you want to keep feeling what your feeling! Not trying to be a contrarian here, and I am a romantic, but my conscious analysis of the topic is no longer naive.

@Fil Albuquerque,
It's not only nice and mellow dopamine-soaking joy though. You know that a lover is never satisfied with his lot. There's always tension in love, stemming from expectations and desire. Barthes defined the lover as "someone who waits".

@Fil Albuquerque,
I don t agree with you that there is no free meals in this universe , they are rare but do exist. Remember the missioners like christian missioners like mother tereza , she gave so much for free , spent a life for others . That is love
