Oh, you have the kind of self-discipline that counts, Dag .. the kind where you will, always, finish your thing and where it will, even if it was finished at the last moment, be good, too. <smiles>

That said, here's wishing you lots of strength and calm and extra reserves of energy ... and hopefully, you'll get some nice sleep on the plane!

oooof. ow. goodness gracious. so this is what theatre is really like. Ryan was screaming at top of his voice, like a madman, today: "If you think you suck, you sure do suck!!!" He's getting more and more nervous, understandably. Tomorrow we have to do one dance piece one by one - it's a difficult one, singing and dancing at the same time. Who can't do it, will be pulled off the number.
He was also impatient with scheduling difficulties. When we couldn't agree on time to rehearse for the tapdancing number, where I'm in the lead, he blurtes "You're in charge, get them together" at me. So now I'm to do choreography, organize all the dancers (which is like herding cats).... i never choreographed anything. not officially anyway. but it's a challenge. guess i gotta get up way early tomorrow. ugh! luckily i'm SOOOO competitive that it ain't even funny. i won't be Booed for my efforts, that's for sure.

I'm involved via the production team in a local amature production of G&S the Gondaliers. The cast moved to scripts down last night. oh boy.

Anyway Dag, this is your thread. just wanted you to know I'm living it with ya all the way.

dadpad, i'll be glad if you share your frustrations and joys. right now i'm up and cannot sleep- going over the lyrics of the song that wreaked havoc at today's rehearsal and trying to come up with choreography for my stellar solo tap dance item... i expected work work work from the day 1, but being an empathic being, the director's nervousness makes me nervous, too. i want to do my friggin best to make the show a hoot. i better sleep some though...

Berlin Irving - There's No Business Like Show Business

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know

Everything about it is appealing
Everything the traffic will allow
Nowhere could you get that happy feeling
When you are stealing
That extra bow

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low

Yesterday they told you you would not go far
That night you open and there you are
Next day on your dressing room they've hung a star
Let's go on with the show

The cowboys, the wrestlers, the tumblers, the clowns
The roustabouts that move the show at dawn
The music, the spotlight, the people, the towns
Your baggage with the labels pasted on
The sawdust and the horses and the smell
The towel you've taken from the last hotel

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know

You get word before the show has started
That your favorite uncle died at dawn
Top of that, your ma and pa have parted
You're broken-hearted
But you go on

There's no people like show people
They don't run out of dough

Angels come from everywhere with lots of jack
And when you lose it there's no attack
Where could you get money that you don't give back?
Let's go on with the show

The costumes, the scenery, the make-up, the props
The audience that lifts you when you're down
The headaches, the heartaches, the backaches, the flops
The sheriff who escorts you out of town
The op'ning when your heart beats like a drum
The closing when the customers won't come

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know

Everything about it is appealing
Everything the traffic will allow
Nowhere could you get that happy feeling
When you are stealing
That extra bow

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low

Even with a turkey that you know will fold
You may be stranded out in the cold
Still you wouldn't 'change for a sack of gold
Let's go on with the show
Let's go on with the show
