This one is nice, too.

This is the artist: Люсьен Леви-Дюрме (1865-1953)

Oh, and for punkroack - try the LunchPaper. I don't know much about what it's like these days, but it had great music when I was there. It's not all punk, but more punk plays there than any other club in town.

This is just alluring.

Lilk-- What is the name of the place where REM got the phrase Automatic for the People? Do the B52s get there anymore? Are there like places with pictures of REM and the B52s before they made it? And Widespread Panic?

Best deli?

These paintings are great.....

Maybe REM got the name from the 40-watt...? I don't really know. The B-52s weren't around when I was (1994-1999). No one has any old photos of the REM or B52 musicians up, but the place I used to work at had posters. The REM guys, DO still hang out around town. Michael Stipe had been supporting various restaurants when I was there.

Widespread Panic is still based out of the area, but I'm not sure they are based out of athens. I know one member and he lives near to athens. I think REM and WP are too big to play in the athens venues, but WP did play an outdoor show on Washington street when I worked on washington street at the engine room.

Deli as in a place to buy coldcuts or a place to buy sandwiches?

Are you living in Athens? How long have you been there?

Lash, I have the highest regard for your opinions.

Yes, I was at Ft. Gordon - just a bit south of Augusta. I was doing some, ah, government work at the time.

Russian Gothic for lilk.

Rog. You were a spy!!! I'll HAVE to hear about your work at Ft. G. I spent a great deal of time in Augusta (we call it Disgusta), taking my husband to the VA. So, the bean counting was your cover....hmmm Very Happy
Lilk-- I'm not in Athens yet. I'm gathering some info in case I move. I applied to UGA for the Fall. They won't send me a letter until April. So, I may wind up going to Georgia Southern. Meh.

Best deli as in buying a deli sandwich... best hole in the wall, local-ly bar... best art gallery... best hamburger... best brunch with funky menu...best street for antiquing or funky jewelry?

Anything useful would be GREATLY appreciated. You are so helpful!!!

I hope your brother's feeling better about last night. You didn't say much, but I felt for him, and you, because you were feeling for him...

The best hamburgers are to be found at "The Indigo Crow" on Corrales Rd in Corrales New Mexico. I've been to Atlanta, twice.

I spent some time last summer in Dawsonville and hung around Amicalola Falls. Beautiful place. Not too far from the falls you will find the gateway to the Appalachian Trail. It's a bit of a drive down a fairly treacherous logging road just to reach the site, but well worth the effort. From that point you have to hike back about two miles to reach the actual starting point. Very nice scenery. Eventually Amicalola Falls will be the official starting point for the Appalachian Trail, but as of now it is as I described.

Well worth checking out.

Let me see if I can dig up a photo.
