Cav, Dorothy Parker was a bit more of a drinker than you think...

"A wonderful drink, the martini,
I'll have one, or two at the most.
Three, and I'm under the table,
Four, and I'm under the host."

In hot weather all day long, cold Club Soda. As the sun fades over the yardarm, start tempering it with white wine and raspberries... Or, if I've been to Portland lately, McMenamin's Terminator Stout, not too cold.

"I'm not as think as you drunk I am..."

All I know about Manhattans, is old people drink them.

Oh yea, another summer drink...although all these drinks I drink year-round, is Red Bull&vodka.

Leinenkugel Berry Weiss. Only available in the Summer. Go to Summerfest in Milwaukee over the 4th of July and have it on tap. Listen to great bands, too.

Seltzer water untill the sun is over the yardarm...

And since we have no boat, the yardarm is whatever we say it is.

Just got back from a family reunion where an older cousin turned me on to Grey Goose Vodka and a twist of lime. Went down a treat...

Speaking of yardarms, did you know that you can get just as drunk on water...

...as you can on land!

I prefer room temperature water when it's hot out, but I've been known to partake in a Southern Comfort Manhattan or four. Garnish the glass with a slice of fresh peach and I'm all yours. Wink

A friend commented last Summer as I ordered a Bass that I really should consider switching to a "Summer beer." My reply: "Bass IS my Summer beer!"

I tried to post this earlier, but was frustrated by the system Mad

Pimms is the English summer drink. It's June now, so time to drink it and be merry (never mind the weather).

I'll try to copy the perfect recipe for Pimms from one I've posted elsewhere...it's all in the mix and macerating the fruit in the alcohol...

Happy memories of warm days by the river! Very Happy

Ah yes, Pimm's. Would that be Pimm's Cup you're referring to, pete? I recall it included cucumber when I had one some years ago. 'Twas refreshing...

I'm a big fan of Campari and Soda in the summer, and a drink a friend and I devised a few weeks ago -- Jameson blended with OJ and Mango Juice and a banana -- it was soooooooo good! Someone mentioned Limoncello, which I've always made in the winter (great bone warmer), but I'll have to give that a try this summer and compare the difference!

The running joke at work today was jello shots made with pineapple jello and Malibu rum...It sounded so good that I'll have to remember to make them the first time I have guests this Summer....If we ever have Summer.

I LOVE Bellinis, 'specially in the summertime!

For Six Servings:
Ingredients:
4 Fresh, Ripe White Peaches
1/4 Cup Peach Nectar
1 Tbls. Superfine Sugar
1 750 ml bottle of Prosecco, Cava or Champagne, well chilled (nothing too robust, light is good for this)

Peel, pit and chop the peaches. In your blender or food processor, puree the chopped peaches, nectar and sugar. Divide the puree evenly into six chilled champagne flutes, fill each with the chilled bubbly, serve immediately. MMMMM!!
