Never before have I seen such anguish on the face of a child.

Oh? I thought the child was attacking the poor christmas creature.
Liquid poop's a great weapon.
Fortunately the childs suffering was short lived. A few moments after this phot was taken he...well, I will spare you the gory details.

Phot?
What's that? Is it like an immortal soul?
More of a highly mortal soul. They are expelled frequently, and smell similar to fetid farts but with a tinge of old vacuum cleaner bag.
Phots are generated with regularity and not missed, although friends and family may rue their passing, particularly in close quarters.

Oh...so it's like...a dog thing...?
It's a human thing. Dogs don't need to hypothesize or even possess souls to demonstrate their metaphysical significance.

And they phot?
That's a gobstopper, ain't it?

What sort of answer did you have in mind?
I thought most questions revolving around dogs ended with the answer:
"Because it can."
Isn't that a suitable answer (or at least action) with which to respond to many of life's questions?

Only for less developed life forms.
More developed than any wee morsel of hopping prey could ever understand.
