I am in my 50s and I now find that it takes less food to make me feel full and that the "fullness" remains for longer periods than was the case when I was younger.
Is this normal? Does it indicate the need for any kind of treatment?
I think there is certainly a slowing down of the metabolism around 50, if not sooner and it's only natural that if your metabolism is slower then the amount of food you need to eat goes down. I think that's part of why so many people gain weight in their 50s. If you're concerned about your health you should see your doctor, but what you post here doesn't surprise me.
Most folks eat too much food anyway.
Gollum--
Are you less active than you used to be?
That hasn't happened to me yet. Less food to feed the appetite. But of course the metabolism has slowed down and it's alot harder, year after year, to hold it together. Geez...
Last week the comic strip Cathy was ruefully mocking the idea of mature fat.
Noddy 24--
No, I don't think that I am less active.
Gollum--
Are you sure? I know I'm much less active that I used to be, particularly in the cold, dark months.
