Everyone is planning on being in Boston the end of the month, right? when we help Dasha defend her dissertation.

Noooo! You're jinxing it! You have to amend it by saying: "... or help her forget her failure by drinking herself into oblivion." It'll be the same in practice though. As Martin Luther King put it so eloquently: "No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until vodka rolls on like rivers and Fernet like a mighty stream."

Just goes to show, Walter, that we need at least one German Bostonian to make the party really happen.
Always eager for New Mexican Bostonians too, osso. Next time you're in the neighborhood (bring one of those chains of dried chiles, and we'll drop it in the pot)

@MontereyJack,
Oh my, thank you all. Embarrassed

I love having little prop-y party favors at gatherings. In my other life (I have one outside of A2K, though God only knows why exactly), I mentor a young sorority sister (she's at MIT). She likes rubber ducks so I got a bunch of 'em and had a mess of duplicates. Hence the serendipitous ducks.

Books on Andy Wyeth (there's nudity in there. Smile) and bodily fluids were a bonus from the take pile at work.

I had the ahi tuna salad. And one of RP's broccoli florets. Smile

@Sglass,

I don't see any comments on the food that was served at the Stockyard, what did folks have and was it any good.

I think I'm the only one who had a hearty Stockyard-type meal. I mean, it's a steak house, so I ordered the steak tips with mashed pot. and the veggie du jour which turned out to be creamed spinach. (I happen to like spinach.) The rest of the crew ordered mostly sandwiches (Thomas had a Reuben, I recall). But those sammiches are HUGE triple-deckers with all the fixin's on the side.

You, of course, Sglass, were having wonderful eggs Benedict at the Kiluea Lodge while we were finishing out midday fare. Now, who should be envious of whom?

And here I was thinking the rubber duckies were their "on tour" so to speak.

(Still wrestling with the mental picture I had the first time I heard about the famous Duck Tour vehicles on Abuzz).

@Merry Andrew,
Wonder how eggs benedict got their name. But let me tell you MA the Lodge knows how to make them. They were served with griced potatoes and a half of a papaya , then to top it off I had a wonderful hot bread pudding with cream land lots and lots of black coffee.

The steak tips were good you say. Triple decker Reubens doesn'nt sound too bad either.

Sounds like a good time was had by all.

Our waitperson came in and saw the ducks on the table--her eyes got big and she gasped "I collect rubber ducks!!!" So Jes gave her a ninja duck and a rock-and-egg-roller duck. We gave her the ducks in lieu of a tip. No, no, no, we gave her a tip too. Actually the restaurant pre-tipped her, they added it to the bill. But she deserved it.
what did the duck say when the bartender served him a beer?

@Letty,
Thanks, Miss Letty! There's a topic called Everything You Ate Yesterday and I outline most of it there, some of it on the 2008 and 2009 Exercise Goals topics, too. Smile 127 lbs down as of this morning.

I was asked what a widget was.
Here's a picture of a widget on an F-16.
The widget is that long thing with little back rectangles (windows) under the fuselage.
