June 6 sounds doable to me, as of this writing.
Galapagos not in Boston? Who knew?
Oooh, several hotels, B&Bs, etc. All likely pricey. Book as far ahead of schedule as you can.
Amory Guest House 617 576-9633
Charles Hotel (most expensive, no doubt) (less than 1 block away) 617 864-1200

Harvard Square Hotel (close, but I'm not sure how close) 617 864-5200
Hotel at MIT (not sure where Sydney Street is, but prolly accessible by T) 617 577-0200

I can make reservations for 7:00 at John Harvard's Brew Pub.
I'll talk to RP but that looks feasible from this end. He and I would be coming from the seaport area.
i'm in!
John Harvard's Brew Pub/House

Cambridge, MA 02138
tel 617-868-3585
its right down the street from the Harvard Sq T station --
Awesome! The Boston-Galapagos gathering is on track!
John-Boy is coming to Boston, too? Hot Damn!
If I do come (still having a problem with affordable lodging) I will need an interpreter. Walter and I seem to be the only foreigners. I am a redneck from the mountains of Virginia. But I talk normal. Yall up there in Boston...yall talk funny.

That's okay, RJB. My wife -- who won't be here at the time of your visit -- is from Texas. I'm reasonably fluent in Dixie.
(tap, tap, tap) Is anyone working on a plan?
I suppose this ...

yes, i am working on a couple of plans -- one for yale university, and a couple for cooling towers in dubai... thanx for asking.
Do I have to come over there?
osso,
i will happily accept whatever punishment you deem necessary in person at the Bahstin-Galapagos gathering...

We derail easily.
RJB, we don't have good affordable lodging. I dunno if I am good for finding lodging (my list a few pages back was from the phone book) because I live here. Does anyone visit regularly?
Affordable lodging is one thing. Available lodging is another. Is it graduation weekend at MIT or Harvard?
Region, I'll send a noodle dish...
Hey, any room where Walter is staying, or similar place? (surely not my business, but I know rjb can deal with transportation, he got a grip on chicago via the subway/el system, used it more than any of the rest of us, plus feet.) Any suburb ideas?
Personally, I'd trade a certain room mate for the erudite, courteous, witty, good story teller, man with a heart and perspective, RJB, in a millisecond <flushing disposal>. And.. the guy can handle getting on a metro....
Too bad there isn't a barge-for-a-week for the stupid... (sorry, I have this bias).
Surely there must be liveable b and b's within rail service.
rjb, Irving House was the one I was thinking of, about a 5-minute walk to Harvard Square, one of several Camb. v&bs that seem to run about $100 a night, some of the more-affluent folk musicians who come thru have stayed there, I think (the usually-affluent generally sleep on somebody's couch when they come to town). They have a spring special that expires June 4, which does make me wonder if commencements are the next week.

I'm sort of freaked rjb can't find a place to stay.
The only time I stayed in Boston as an adult was with my mother in a sad episode after my father's death, decades ago, when I hadn't a clue, yet, that she had alzheimers. Travel Lodge..
I suppose even that is booked.
Shirley....
Surely there is something in the surroundings. Maybe in some wonderful place.
