Lets see if this topic can be kept alive for 17 weeks. Hopefully it will draw the attention of our paisanos!

I'm going to begin with the sad story about Chivas. What a disappointing start. Of course, the team killed itself with the red cards and Talavera's cold - as usual - start. I honestly hope that the team will lose against Colo-Colo, as we can't participate in 2 tournaments simultaneously and hope for good results, specially in this World Cup year.

Lets see what happens to Pumas Fbaezer... Crying or Very sad

Damn pro-Chivas referee, it clearly was NOT a penalty. That's no way to get a measly point.
Now it's 24 years we can't beat them pseudo-nationalists at Jalisco stadium.

(OK, but I hope the rojiblancos humble Colo-Colo tonight)

Anyway, Pumas is so far playing better than expected, having lost Pinedín to Chivas, Ailton to San Luis and De Nigris to somebody really stupid to buy him (Qatar, it is?)

Heeeeeey... pseudo-nationalists? Your words hurt me Sad

Yeah, de Nigris went to China I think. Don't blame him though.

Well, the Libertadores suits us, hopefully it wont turn into an excuse for not getting inside the liguilla.

I'm happy for what happened to Cuauhtémoc this thursday Smile.

I understand Chivas fans in Guadalajara and outside football cities. People like yourself.
What I don't understand is chilango Chivas fans; they have 4 local teams to choose from and go for another one, "because they're all Mexicans".
It sounds like old priista propanganda to me.
Besides, how often does Chivas have a foreign coach? VERY often.
Like now, 11 Mexicans who obey a Dutch!
And they call themselves nationalist! Wink

The one thing we have in common is hatred for Club America and americanistas.
For both of us, Cuauhtémoc is everything we are against. So I'm also happy about his misfortunes.

At my former office we had a co-worker who once beat the crap out of Cuauhtémoc, when they were kids. Cuauhtémoc had hit his little brother, so this guy took on the younger bully.
He was modest about it (we learned it from a friend of his), but instantly became a hero for us.

Well, you are partially correct. But, how about a national football team with not only a foreign coach, but players born outside. Not that I'm against it though, as long as it works. Plus... its done in so many countries now.

I wonder whether you favor Lavolpe and his naturalizados...

Wow, you might ask him for an autograph! Little Cuauhtémoc has to have been a very ugly being...

Commandment number 7 of any Pumas fan:
But not because Lavolpe is a foreigner. Because he's a pain in the ass.
It's too late now, and we have to stick with him for the World Cup.

I don't see any difference between a Mexican citizen born in Mexico and a Mexican citizen born outside Mexico.
I was happy indeed when Caballero was called by Aguirre to play for the Tri. Another prejudice barrier was down.
I think Sinha, for example, has as much right to play as Ramoncito Morales.
But i dislike opportunists. People who change nationalities only to play a World Cup. And I dislike Guille Franco profoundly. I'm also glad Gaytán didn't send his naturalization papers "on time".

Chivas nationalism went as far as not letting mascareño play with them, a few years ago. Mascareño was born in the US, of Mexican parents: hence, he was Mexican by birth... according to the laws of our country, but not according to Chivas definition.

For me, as a pumista, and for many americanistas, the real Classic is Pumas-América. True hatred among fans.

Gueva espantosa!

... maldito Fair Play y malditas virtudes!

Nice goal by Pinedín, eh?
But, as I told you... a boring "Classic".

(They're no good since Chivas signed with Televisa, around 1994)

Cruz Azul no levanta.
If none of the "big 4" is doing well, then the tournament losses passion.

Hey!

Hmmm. I don't want to ask you to translate everything - besides, I can almost read along. Still, I am following this like I follow all sports... getting interested in the teams and the people. So, some capsulized summaries for those without facility in Spanish - maybe every twenty posts or so? not meaning that you have to explain everything.

OK, osso.
Short summary of the last posts.
I asked elpohl if he thinks the network Televisa is rigging the tournament by letting team San Luis beat both America and Necaxa (all three owned by the network, against all logic, but everything is possible in surrealist Mexico). San Luis is fighting to stay in the First Division (the last team "descends" to the Second Division, and the champion of the Second Division "ascends").
As a good Chiva fan, he is shure there is rigging.
I also suspect it.
But we are not innocent bystanders. Chivas and Pumas fans hate Televisa's team America with a hatred unknown even to Yankee hating Red Sox fans.
Besides that, we've been talking about his Chivas (struggling, but getting better) and my Pumas (pitiful, they lost today too).
