Aww c'mon, now you're just makin' stuff up.

Nope, never heard of a tv show called big brother, sorry.

TV doesn't really hold any interest for me, frankly.

My mode of watching tv is to turn it on, flip around channels for 5 minutes or so then (in order of how often it occurs) either turn it off again, watch something for 10 minutes and then turn off, or settle on some show.

Drives my husband crazy.

I'm sure there's a lot of folks that enjoy that thought.

It's not really all that hard to rationalize.

Questioner,

It is for me. It's hard for me to imagine anyone actually wanting others to suffer.

[Pauligirl,

Thank you for answering. I'd like to ask you about the ....wouldn't that god know exactly what it would take for me to believe? statement if I may?

Do you believe that God doesn't know what it would take for you to believe or do you just think He is not doing what it would take?

Since I don't believe, I guess you could take it either way.

Look at it this way.

1) There's a God that is purported to love everyone, yet you have to go through this ritual to be saved, so there's a condition on this love.

2) This God has all the power in the world, yet if you earnestly ask for your mother who is dying of an advanced cancer to be healed the chances are very good that she'll die anyway.

3) The bible says we are to rejoice in our suffering. God-inspired bible or not?

Both. It's a joke to me, but you don't know how many times I've been told I'd burn in hell in other forums.

Where was God when this poor woman cried at night? When the whip fell..... again and again.

That is why I question the existence of a supreme being. That girl ultimately died at the hand of that sadistic Nazi.

A life cut short. A life full of promise.

Any excuse to post up the Nazi-lovin', eh Gus.

Questioner,

1) Have you considered that it is not a ritual, but a way of life?

2) The mother dying of advanced cancer will die at some point, as we all will. How do you know that she has not already been given extra time through prayer?

3) Nobody said that life was a bowl of cherries.

Questioner,

1) God does love everyone. There is no condition set on the love that He has for us. He gives that love freely. We decide whether we accept it or not.

2) I understand Questioner, but there are checks and balances. If God intervened and saved we would soon be overpopulated. There is a time and a season for everything.

3) Yes, we are to rejoice in our suffering. Any suffering we do here on this earth is minute compared to what Christ suffered on the cross.

Yes, well I was addressing this particular post:

It's not hard for me to envision someone, god included, wanting others to suffer. If there is a god, and the words of the bible are true, then I can't think of this world being anything more than a crucible so that we call can pass through the fire before being judged. Which makes God a rather nasty character in my opinion.

Nothing that I can think of. That's why I said what I said. If there's a god, he/she/it ought to be able to come up with something that would do it.

Just the same as it would be with no god.

Questioner,

I think you took that a bit out of context but it's ok. It is hard for me to imagine wanting anyone to suffer because I don't feel that way myself.

God does not want us to suffer. He knows we will suffer on this earth but it is not what He wants for us.
