Then I would suggest you be a tad more careful with how you construct your posts, as Phoenix and I were the only ones specifically mentioned in it.

I see why you thought I meant you two now. Shocked

I first put your names cause rather than replying to each post separately, I answered you both at once, then added what I did.

It's so hard to talk on the net...

ITOO, please tell me you are in your early teens. If not, please go back to the brain store and get a refund.
As you are obviously incapable of reasearching anything that isn't the bible (and even your knowledge there is sorely lacking) I'll spoonfeed you a link like the helpless little baby you are.
Strawman
I even found one with a big cartoony picture of a strawman. I thought it might help to hold your attention.

I wonder if people of low intelligence realize their situation, or if said impediment blocks their perception of said fact?
Ahh the mysteries of life....

Something tells me you don't know when someone is being a smart-elek.

I was simply teasing you.

I read plenty. Mainly what I should'nt have been reading. But my past I'll not mention here.
Now...I read other things than the bible, yes. I've been doing alot of research on holistic healing and alternative medicine. And yes, I've even studied science. But found that much of what I learned from science, was already recorded thousands of years ago.
But recently, I'm busy doing other things as well.

I do appreciate you thinking of me enough to look up the site tho, thanks! Very Happy

About earlier.....I don't know why you called me arrogant for that. I realy don't see that I'm any more arrogant than you. But that's my personal opinion.

Now...I'll admit, just because you rub me the wrong way some times, doesn't mean we can't get along now, does it?

Doktor S,

Let me ask you a something. Would you ridicule a first grader because they do not understand the same as a third grader? Would you ridicule a high school student because they don't understand the same as a doctoral student?

Everyone's level of learning is different. Just because one's level is not the same as our own, does that make them less than?

Hi MA,

How are you tonight?

What you said reminds me of feeding steak and potatoes to a baby, LOL!

That is agreeable to me. However if you are going to be challenging someone elses ideas, you best be prepared to follow through. I wouldn't challenge the ideas of a physicist on the subject of physics, for instance, because I realize I would be inadequately educated to do so. My point; regardless of what your level of education is, if you step up to the plate you better be able to hit.
Besides, who ever said being soft and coddling was the best way to teach? Personally, I learned the most in life from hardasses that spoke it like it was.

I have not read through the latest interchange, but what I want to say is applicable to many situations. One of the things that I have learned, is that it is extremely unwise, if one is not expert in certain areas, to debate with someone who is.

For instance, I am totally in awe of Setanta's command of history. Unless I were very, very sure, I would not argue a point of history with him.

I find a good rule of thumb is 'if you don't know what the hell you are talking about, don't talk'
Failure to follow this rule WILL result in you looking foolish on a regular basis,

I assure you I know what I am talking about with regards to 'the bible'
I'm not one of those 'atheists' that irrationally hates everything christian. I read from the bible every day. In fact, every time I take a crap.
Something synchronous and circular about reading it in that location that I enjoy.
I know the bible pretty well. My favorite has to be pauls letter to philemon, and the keen way he describes believers in said epistle.
You know what I'm talking about?

Sure I do. I know him as well as I know frodo, aragorn and samwise.
Better, perhaps because I only read THOSE books once!

Humm. Well, I didn't read it cover to cover till I was about 15. I didn't begin seriously studying it untill I hit my 20s.

Shocked

Did you ever get anything from it? Other than the teachings of it...like a message of some form?

If that makes any sense...

It's interesting how you do read it that much!

My aunt read it cover to cover several times also.

Well, I disagree with the religion that spawned from it, and most of the foundational tenets of this religion. Big surprise there huh?
Did anything in it profoundly change my philosophical perspective? No..there is nothing intellectually stimulating about it.
I read it because a large majority of north american civilization takes it as literal truth, and forknowledge is forarmament.
There are a couple old testament things that have found there way into my philosophy though. One being lex talionis, the other being the 'golden rule'
But the golden rule I practice with one modification..
'do unto others as others do unto you'
