Last night...I went for a jog. I didn't want to be home when he got home. I didn't want to be around him. This sounds crazy..but it's true. This is not healthy. I understand that I need to change my point of view. I need to open up and be cool with porn surfing. But how?

I don't think your reaction is crazy or even unusual. We've had several similar threads here on A2K over the years and the "I'm crazy for thinking thihs way..." idea seems to come up fairly often in them. I think your reaction is more 'normal" than you may realize.

I don't know that you have to open up or become more cool with porn either. I'm not going to repeat Bella's wise words other than to say that you are in a marriage and in many cases that means compromise. That has to come from both sides.

This morning I looked at his history and there were around 100 sited he went to last night while I was sleeping.

that's frighteningly easy to do, limitlessbliss.

i once wandered onto a porn site <i was looking for photos of lips for some reason> and was pop-upped into over 30 sites before i could figure out how to back my way back out.

your husband might be looking at porn, but it does sound like most of your relationship is healthy

I knew a couple in a similar situation and in the end she left him because of his porn addiction. The courts actually forbade him any contact with his children in future because of his addiction - which developed to using prostitutes, she told me.

Porn can be an end in itself but can also lead to terrible situations. There are many cases of men having a porn session then going out to rape or kill.

The attitude of your man needs to be very carefully assessed . I work in a prison and see details of many serious sex crimes - 99.9% start with involvement with porn. Sure, anything can be misused but it is a big gamble - and you will have this lifelong. Porn involvement never stops - it grows and grows.

What if the tables were turned?
The consensus is that it's ok for men to view porn. How about if the tables were turned and I (the wife) were on the computer late at night and my husband looks over my shoulder and sees naked men? I am not looking for an argument with you, but what are your thoughts?

Have fun! Smile (If you think people would be surprised IMO, you are mistaken. There are a LOT of women that frequent (and/or run) porn sites.)

No no no no no no no no no...uh, did I say no?

Porn does NOT lead to rape! How many times do I have to say this? Are people still this ignorant about rape in this country? It's no wonder so many women don't come forward or press charges against their rapist. No one even understands what rape is about!

The men to "have a porn session" and then go out and rape are sick, twisted people that would kill with or without the porn. It doesn't cause the rape. It may be used as an accessory, just like a pair or silk panties worn by the rapist for some bizarre excitment.

He'd probably be incredibly turned on and take you right there. I mean, a woman who actually is honest about her desires and sexual nature? Who woudda thunk it?

Prison is a whole other world. Working there, you'd think you'd know that. It really is funny that you think that porn causes men to commit rape. Especially after you say you work with rapists. You should know why rape is committed and that it rarely has anything to do with sex.

The really funny thing is that involvement with porn can be linked to nearly every man in the US, so I guess you are saying that all these men are potential rapists? Well, the rational person knows that 99.9% of the men who use porn never commit rape or murder.

I rather think you're wrong on this BD. Porn may not be the single solitary cause for rape, but it certainly can act as a catalyst for it. No question that people that go out and rape are sick and selfish individuals. However, with the proliferation of situational rape porn floating about, it's easy to see how some rank bastard that's never so much as sniffed a woman in his life could go out and act on those fantasies.

Questioner, I think we've been down this road before and this argument. I think it's as silly as saying video games cause otherwise normal kids to act out and shoot up their school. Normal kids don't shoot up their school and normal men don't rape women.

Yes, normal men don't. Normal men also don't get off looking at the type of porn I mentioned above. Yet we're not speaking of the effects of Porn on normal men.

However, you're correct, we've been down this road before and I suppose this isn't the place for it.

But all these women are talking about normal porn, not snuff films or other violent, non-acceptable behavior (ie, rape movies). And besides, if someone is watching a film with a woman being tortured and gets off on it, they are pretty f*cked up in the head and wouldn't need porn to motivate them.

I'll be happy to debate this with you again Bella, perhaps in a different thread if you'd like?

Laughing I think we hashed this to death before with no result except a long thread and both of us still stuck to our original statements.
