Why are you still a Christian?

echi,

I am sorry, but in that case the "I" means literally what it says. Jesus Christ is the Truth, the Way and the Life.

Yes, human egos do convince other people of many things.

When Jesus said this, he was speaking not as "Jesus" but as "Christ".
"I am the Truth, the Way and the Life." We don't know exactly what was said, but it probably was very close to this.

In the Bible, does Jesus ever claim to be God?

I feel the same way about critical thinking skills and common sense.

echi,

He said I am the Father are one. If you see me, you see the Father.

Doktor S,

Those would be the desires of man, not of God.

Yep, Mr. Dyslexia, that's what He said. Humble and loving to the very end. Forgiving everyone for killing Him. Quite a guy.

More specifically, this man.
Are you saying that your desire to 'give faith to everyone' (which frankly I see as a bit insulting) comes from 'god'?
That's quite the ego you have there, M.A.

He said this speaking as Christ, not as Jesus. If it is Jesus who is important, then why bother adding the word "Christ"?

Jesus was born a regular, ordinary, run of the mill human being and later, after much prayer and spiritual insight, realized his true nature.

It seems his message to people was simply to do as he had done. This message was not what most people wanted to hear; they just wanted someone to worship, someone to do their work for them.

Doktor S,

I can understand how you might see it as ego, since that is what your faith is based on and only what it can do to benefit you.

My faith is faith based on loving others and wishing only the best for them. If that's ego, then I need more.

No, I don't have 'faith'
I see 'faith' itself as a hinderance to clear thinking and I try to avoid it at all costs.
I just thought it funny that you would insinuate my desires were 'of man' while yours were 'of god', as if you were qualified to make such a distinction.

Doktor S,

The Bible makes it very clear what the desires of God are. It also makes it very clear what the desires of man are.

Actually, you are the one that made it clear your desires have nothing to do with God.

I just define god differently.

Well, I sorta' figured you would. But I'm interested in how your beliefs differ from mine. I still don't know what your beliefs are, really, aside from: God sending His only Son, Jesus (Who is also God), to die so that our sins may be forgiven. But I wish you, or someone else, could explain a bit more what all of that means. I am trying to get it.

Yes, we all have different gods. As our 'selves' are all different, so are the projections those selves create.
You project yours outward, I project mine inwards.
Very different indeed.

echi - from reading your posts, I get the feeling you have higher thinking skills. It sounds to me like you are re-searching a path you have already been down.

Did you not like your own answers?

I don't know what else to tell you. That is the basics of my beliefs.

If you ask specifics, I will do my best to answer.
